Engine development is long term. Ford frequently releases a new product, and then releases the new engines the next year. Should they have had the 5.0 in development sooner?? Sure. However, much had to change with the fundamentals of Ford, before they could have "fun." The turn around of this company has been a work in progress for many years............ even before Mulally came in (the quality improvements were implimented by Bill Ford). So, while we would like to have all the new stuff TODAY, it often doesn't work that way.

Jason D, wescoent on GMI is where the info on the Z28 came from. He has much inside information on both Ford and GM, due to his contacts in the financial industry (he does risk management analysis for JP Morgan). Pretty much any product information will be known about in advance, due to financials. I was just looking for confirmation, because he usually posts in a winky winky, read between the lines way, to not get his sources in trouble.
you seem to have taken my statement the wrong way ... Ford has had a few years to beef up their 315 HP baby is what this meant. And like stated later on after this post Ford has been working on another motor for longer then <1 yr. At least we can agree that they should have released this new motor or something better sooner. Guess my point for the whole rant is that its sad to see a company like Ford, GM, Dodge, whatever ... wait until there is competition to better a product. Am I so wrong in thinking this?

While I do understand that, I have to say that the 2005 Mustang was a HUGE improvement over the 2004, and that was with no competition.

was 2004 the first year of the makeover? I dont follow Ford that much. Its always that way the first year of a new style of vehicle. Its almost guaranteed that the 2011 Camaro ... whenever it is to be released will prob have a few kinks ironed out. Hmmm speaking of which ... when do the 2011's start rolling out instead of 2010's?

kinks? No kinks in my new SS.
car runs mint, fast enough for any human, gets more looks than any mustang, and has the best structure of any muscle car I have ever owned....sooooo...where is the worry with the new 5.0L?
I say it's about time that Ford came to the party with a real muscle car.
Yeah, might be a hair or 2 faster around the track or to 60 mph this summer ...maybe...but I know I always rather take home the prettiest girl at the party built by the boys in Oshawa.

I am so tired of everyone wanting to make the new camaro a luxury car as well. IF YOU WANT A LUXURY CAR BUY A BMW OR MERCEDES. The camaros mustangs and challengers are once considered PONY CARS aka light weight and a big motor. I love GM and camaros but i am starting to lean more towards ford everytime i see gm doing stupid things like that

Challenger

IMHO the Challenger is way down the pole. The base car powertrain is hopelessly outdated, trans. as well.Their advertising budget is also nil as i have yet to see any Challengers ads;just annoying kids in a boring minivan(this is proof they are operating on peanuts)As well the SRT8 version is still way overpriced as i seen one last Dec.09 in Billings Mt. @$52,000
