Re: new camaro body color

it'd be nice for them to bring a couple, maybe more, of the popular colors back from '69.

check it out. personally i'd order triple midnight black. but it'd be cool to see hugger orange, fathom green, and burgundy come back to life.

for example, look at the new mustang. they brought back windveil blue and that antique looking green. those colors are so different they pop out and look good. i think if we put some classic colors on the palette it'd be a hit!

my g/f wants hers in le mans blue

edit: aw crap, after staring at that page, just bring 'em all back!!!!!!!!!

I'm definetly all for nice colors from the factory. But for me it would never be a sticking point. They could offer it only in hot pink, but if it had everything else I wanted, I'd just drive it straight from the lot to the paint shop.

I would love a dark grey color like the late C5s had.
People who love the wild colors are in the minority of car buyers. And even if someone loves the crazy colors, they are timid about buying the car since it makes it so much tougher to resell.
I am guessing the color line-up will be similar to what the GTOs and Vettes have now.

Thank You!!! Finally someone who realizes there are paint shops to take care of the "boring" colors. Hell, Like other people have already said...if it only came in a neon pink/lime green two tone with caution orange rims...I'd still drive it...but it'd be orange with white stripes very quickly.

Most people don't want to spend an additional $3-8K to have a car blown apart and repainted. They want to buy it from the factory that way with a warranty. Repainting a car IS NOT as simple as it sounds once you get into it. If you want a quality job you're gonna pay for it. People dont' want to deal with that hassle. Berger cars and ZL1's had repaints but you paid about $8-10K depending on color for it.

All paint jobs I've had done in the past have come with full warranty. I wouldn't work with a shop that didn't warranty their work. Secondly, although a complete repaint is tedious work, simple graphics and a partial recolor do absolute wonders for a car. you can take a good base color (such as black) and build onto it anything you want.

Paint job does not equal total color change.
I may be an exception to the rule, although I have great friends at local body shops. I've done much of the disassembly / prep work, trailered the car in. they tacked it down and shot the car. If you're not afraid to do the work yourself a great paint job doesn't have to cost an arm and a leg.

Thank you. I'm sure it will already, but I think it should come with the popular colors people want. I know I don't want to have to shell out thousands of dollars just for a paint job on a brand new car.

But then again, the colors I like are popular. I'd pick either dark red or navy blue. Chances are those will be in the lineup anyways.

Re: new camaro body color

IF you can do the work yourself it IS cheap to repaint. Most people don't have the knowledge/time/materials/tools to do it. My dad and I have painted several vehicles. My truck was two toned, with custom mixed pearl paint and including filler plates for the stuff I shaved I have about $700 into it for materials. Probably a bit more than that since we had some leftover stuff from previous paint jobs. The point is most people will NOT want to spend money to paint their brand new vehicle. GM needs to offer the standard black, silver, white, red, blue and then offer a couple uplevel paint options. Premium paint with pearls or flip flops are a few hundred dollar option on most vehicles like Pontiacs and Caddys.
