Additions like AFM and VVT will help boost both economy and performance while reduce emissions. And the ability for it to possibly run on E85 also could help you reduce your cost in gas consumption.
Do you NEED a 430hp V8 running on premium fuel? Probably not.
This person sounds like an ideal customer for GM to take back, and could entice him and others with a still powerful V8 but the get the benifit of a economical and proven V8 engine.
Mate this to a 6spd automatc with sport shifting, and you have a hell of a buy, and still outperforms the Mustang GT.
Excellent post, excellent, and I am thinking chevy is very close to winning me back. If they could(or are) produce a reliable V8 that hit 30 MPG on average in the cosmetic package they are going to in the 2010 camaro, I would buy it if it was halfway affordable. Shoot I may even buy it if was was overpriced. A lot of conditions I know, but IN MY OPINION the domestics have not ever (or at least for about 20 years anyways) been able to compete with the imports on longevity, fuel economy and overall durability on average. However, that seems to be changing and it's about frigin time I say. I want to buy american, but I had to go import in the past. I can't pay what the domestics have asked for their rigs knowing full well I won't get the trouble free longevtiy I would from a honda or toyota to name two. I love Chevy, but I can't deny the total package a honda can provide. It's unmatched but the gap is closing.

As I said thats changing and for the better. I now feel much more confidant about buying american not only cosmetically they are making positive changes, but making them better and hopefully can combine performance, reliability and fuel economy all rolled up in package. My wife drives a subaru outback, great little car and it has the automatic with the sport shift which I think is a great option. I didn't know this was going to be an option on the new camaro......1 more reason to buy it. I PRAY this new camaro can live up to half the hype because if so, it's going to be the hottest car in years and I will have to buy one.
