Can't tell much about what seems to be a large open area on top of the radio. Maybe for storage, but seems a strange place to put it. Then again I may be seeing things. I'm a little curious as to what the switches are just under the console gauges, just to the left of the 12V receptacle. Maybe power mirror controls or something.

It may be close to production, but the interior in the black car is just thrown together. Note the tape holding the steering wheel and tach/speedo trim on. It also looks like the center console isn't down completedly. It just makes me wonder exactly how close that particular interior will be to the end product.

In any case...good start.

It's the same as the other spy shots. It's just more "finished." Definitely not close to what Ed seemed to be saying about how different the production interior would be.

I didn't have a problem with it to begin with, which means I'm happy, but those who had a problem before should still have one (or maybe more of one) now. IMO.

IROC-Z rims are making a comeback! Other than that they need a cooler shifter interiorwise.

Could the M be for "Manual" and the space for up/down manumatic shifting?

The automatics have the buttons for the shifting on the back of the steering wheel.

and i'm still wondering why they have a hitch.

one of the controls on the center reminds me of the d-pad on an xbox 360 cntroller.
The hitch is on ALL test cars because they use towable dynos/diags.

The steering wheel has audio/bluetooth controls on it, It is just hard to see in this picture.

The area in the middle and on top of the dash is a speaker, unknown if its strictly for onstar or if its audio as well.

With your hands in the proper position on the steering wheel, your arm blocks the gages. If you buy a stick then your hand blocks the gages when your shifting. In any case it's very difficult to do a good scan while driving with the gages buried under the radio.
I don't see a cup holder? I see a cup, but it doesn't appear to be in a holder. In any case if you shift for yourself you can't have a cup behind the stick, of any size. On my 97 I have to use the Passengers cup holder.
No, I have never owned a car with gauges like that. The only cars I've ever seen with gauges in that position are the first-gen Camaros, and they are ludcicrously far outside of my price range.

I'm not bothered by having the gauges there. I don't scan the auxilliary gauges very often, other than the fuel gauge.

On a second look, I noticed the cup doesn't appear to be in a holder. It's possible the cup holders are in that position, but it looks like there's a lot of crap stuffed into that bin, so the cup may not sit in the holder all the way. If the cupholders are in that position, they appear to be far enough from the shifter that having a cup there won't interfere with shifting.

What are the two notches below M for? There are cars that have both floor and paddle shift manumatic options...

thats what im trying to figure out. the thing is that seems like a somewhat cumbersome way of doing it considering its a straight throw and not bent or doesnt level out so its right/left shifting.
also why is there so much space after the 2 notches

If you're talking about the space right above the radio, that should be the space for the radio/hvac control display.
