NEWS: Despite Rising Fuel Concerns, 2010 Chevy Camaro Is Still on Track
#16
It's all the extra safety crap and techno gizmo's they add to new cars that add all the extra weight, thus lowering MPG. Extra airbags, thicker/heavier frames to meet crash standards, navigation units, heated seats, rear DVDs, etc...all adds weight. Since I swapped my tranny to a 6 speed, I now get about 28 mpg on 90% highway trips, but I'm guessing the new Camaro is gonna weigh alot more than the 4th gens. I would be a little surprised if the low end model V6 didn't get at least 30 mpg for highway. Guess we'll see.

My Impala gets about what the new numbers say. The vette gets much better, at least on the highway. I've never averaged less than 30 on the few highway trips I've taken, and last week coming back from Waco, I got 34 (had a good tail wind though).
