in respect to the comments on wheels, sure they may weigh in at an extra lb or two, but large wheels dont necessarily hurt performance when you are geared correctly. sure they may have larger tires, but will probably also come with 3.73 gears to keep the same ratio to the road as 3.42s with smaller tires...

Why not? With inflation its pretty much necessary.

What would you prefer? I'm not being facetious, just asking because a $21,000 BASE price sounds pretty reasonable to me.

There isn't a car out there that I really like that has a base price below $20,000. Most of them when optioned out as I'd want are over $30,000.

I actually think $21k is too low and hope they don't cheap out on the "rest" of the car (that which is outside the engine bay). I want a QUALITY car, and would pay the extra to get it.

Heck, the Mustang V6 Premium MSRP's for $21k, and it certainly be better built (especially the interior) than the Mustang, plus IRS, etc....

Why does it have to be exactly like the Mustang? Ford isn't exactly the company GM should be emulating right now, and a grand or two won't make much of a difference on lease payments (which is what most everyone does). Make a better car, and you can charge a higher price. Just ask Toyota.

Today. We still have to wait another 2 years before we see a Camaro. Ford would most likely be hard pressed to keep the Mustang under $20k by then.

People rarely pay MSRP anyways, with online shopping dealers are being forced to use more competetive prices. Most people don't have a problem driving 200miles to save a couple of grand.
Example; one of my buddies picked up his "new", Cobalt SS for $19K when they were demanding a price of $21K-$23K locally. But he had to drive about 250 miles.

"In terms of MSRP, GM sources told the magazine a V6 model will retail from $21,000. It will feature a 3.9-liter powerplant with a six speed automatic or manual. It promises to be considerably smoother than the truck-like 4.0-liter V6 under the hood of the base Mustang."

sounds good to me. A 3.9 and a six speed manual? Yes Please! The 3.9 will be much more fun when it has a turbo or two under the hood to keep it company,

Remember now, that the Camaro is probably going to be one of the cheapest, if not THE cheapest vehicle on this particular platform. So if quality is going to be your number one priority while price is not a priority, then you may want to consider another vehicle on the platform.

Don't get me wrong, i sincerely hope that they fix all the quality issues of the 4th gen, but remember that when you buy a Camaro, your getting 420+hp in a car that is suppose to be less than 30 grand!! Corners will have to be cut somewhere!

Cheapest on the platform is fine, as long as it doesn't scream CHEAP. I am also not saying it has to have a luxury brand interior or anything, but a better interior than the Mustang isn't too much to ask, is it?

Anyway, that is what I am hoping for and I have growing confidence considering GM's latest releases. It is going to be a long wait to find out, however.
