I would think so too being down in front where the car is plowing through the air. I get the impression the nose is where the most pressure is. And
honestly I love the 69s hood wich the concept has. A scoop in it would ruin the lines. I dont care if it works or not.

You have a first gen though. Alot of people who have them with the cowl say the ram air from the back works.

I do as well and it does. (fwiw I also had a Z/28 cowl scoop on my '67 Chevelle.) However does 1969 race technology still hold true today with more modern powerplants? It may or may not, I'm not sure. However I would think that you want the air inlet as close to the intake point on the engine for best efficiency and performance. On a 1969 GM engine that was the center of the block or over the carb. On a fuel injected supercharged modern LSx engine, its probably closer to the front of the block.

If nothing else, I would think that the longer the air would have to travel from the back of the hood to the front of the engine to the T/B would pick up a HELLUVALOT more heat than a straight shot from the front of the hood to the T/B. Not to mention less turbulence in the intake tract.

If the intake is toward the front wouldnt it be because they put it there with the intake? No matter because thats the beauty of this front end with two openings though. They could probably have ram air and you would never see it if they didnt want you to.

Exactly. If GM wants to do a cowl hood, they can build a matching intake manifold with the throttle body at the rear. The only reason the the TBs are at the front is becuase it puts them closer to the grill which is usually the only place to find fresh air.

The two new tabs for the Camaro at chevynation.com are working and it's just more interview stuff with Micah Jones about the interior. He does confirm that the production interior will be almost identical to the concept, just like the exterior.

Cowls aren't Ram Air, there's a low pressre area at the rear of the hood where the motor can suck down lots of "cool" air.
We used to put stacks of washers and longer hood mount bolts to raise the rear of the stock hoods at the track on weekends...it works too.

yep.. faster moving air is lower pressure.. the cowl hood actually allows air to be sucked out the back of the engine bay by the faster low pressure air flowing over the car., removing the hot air, thus sucking cooler air from the grill or underneath the car. this was especially good for carbeurated engines with the intake and filter right there on the top and in back of the engine bay... not sure how useful it'd be for fuel injected cars though..

Scott,

Can you at least tell us if these 2 things are apearance related or performance related? No details, just curious.

Looks to me that my original Production photoshop is dead on.

That pic is missing the one thing I hoped would would transfer, above all other features, from the concept to the production model: halos around the headlamps.

pickardracing, could you repost that pic, only add the halos? I would really appreciate it.
