Earlier this morning, Chevrolet let loose with official details, pictures and even a few videos of the 2011 Camaro Convertible just ahead of the car's official debut at the LA Auto Show. The droptop pony car hasn't been a secret for some time now, but this is our first real look at a standard production model.

Perhaps it's because the concept version debuted nearly four years ago in Detroit or because we've seen dozens of spy photos, but for some reason, the Camaro Convertible hardly seems like a new car. The front end is essentially unchanged from the coupe, so if you like the hardtop then you'll likely enjoy the looks of the convertible, as well. Even so, the folks at General Motors are excited about having a second model to help improve their sales lead over the Mustang, and we're sure that they'll soon be popping up all over the place in warmer states and rental car fleets across the country.

It was a typically warm Southern California day without a cloud in the sky, and we would have loved to take the Camaro Convertible out for a spin. Unfortunately, we aren't able to get behind the wheel just yet, but we did take plenty of photos that can be found in the high-res gallery below. Dang that thing is gorgeous!

 

thats a really good looking vert. i love the look of it with the top up too. i still dont like the front bumper on these v6's though.

 

I'll be flying out tomorrow <thursday> to work the LA show. The convertible will be unveiled and there's a cool lobby display I am not at liberty to divulge. It's a cool idea though...

I'm sure there will be pics making their way here soon.

I'm actually the opposite. I think the V6 nose looks much better than the V8. So much so, that I'm actually considering a 2LT RS convertible now.

 

I like the V6 nose better too.

Is that a red interior or orange?

 

That is the Inferno Orange interior.

the lower part of the front bumper looks like it needs to be lower. it reminds me of the front end of my moms lexus rx350.

 

you would buy the v6 over the ss because you like the front bumper better?

 

I'd buy the V6 over the SS because I hate the mail slot.

 

I actually like the V6 nose better too. Not enough to buy a V6 Camaro over a V8 but it does look better IMO. Wouldn't be easier to just buy and swap the V6 nose on the SS?? Kinda sleeper looking and ya still have the V8 under the hood.

 

Are you worried that if you park too close to the curb the mailman will slide your mail into it?

 

I like the V6 front end better as well, but it would be easier to swap the front end than it would be to swap the entire powertrain...



EDIT: Oh, and even though I've said it several times already, this car is absurdly sexy.

 

i wanna see how exactly the top operates. Ive seen it with the top up and i even like it then, but im just curious as to how it works, and what it looks like without the boot on.
