I searched, but found nothing. Care to fill me in?

I'm not 100% sure that the eventual 500+hp Camaro we're all hoping for (and that he was talking about) will come in at a price lower than a base Corvette. I think they'll be pretty close, but I can't decide which is worse -- having a Corvette cost less than a Camaro, or having a ~500hp Chevy cost less than a 430hp Chevy.

I don't know about C6's (and I certainly don't know about the 5th gen), but 4th gen Camaro insurance is generally higher than C5 insurance.

If it were any other car - any "utility" car - I can see driving anything in a broad spectrum, but we're talking about a Camaro - it's a pleasure car first and foremost and there isn't ANYONE who can claim they cannot wait! They may not like to wait - and they may need to drive something less desirable while waiting, but they can still wait since it is a pleasure car.

Vette is the hot chick at the fancy club, with the hot expensive Dior dress on, with the heals, and an amazing body. She is amazing, and for one night of fun, its great. But she is clearly over what you need, very demanding and very high maintence.
Camaro is the cute chick that is fun to be with, and someone you can talk to about anything. She looks good in your tshirt and boxers. She's been there for you when you are down, and you can always hang out with her without feeling out of place. She fits you, and she always smiles when she sees you.
I always thought of the Vette and Camaro as sisters one a bit more naughty than the other.. the one in the Dior dress and heels. I'll take both.
My plan is to cause a brwal one day in the garage when I finally get both sisters home and then introduce our foreign exchange student F430 into the mix and try to teach her some English. Then bring in cousin Viper who works at the strip club down the street. My secretary GT500 will have to wait outside until this is sorted out...

That's why I'm thinking that the top Camaro may not necessarily be cheaper than a base Corvette.

Believe it or not, most guys who went from a 4th Gen to a C5 actually had their insurance drop. Of course there's no way of telling yet if it will be similar when comparing the 5th Gen to C6.

And I can totally see what you're saying about waiting for the Camaro, but we have two entirely different ways of looking at it.

I like both the 5th Gen and C6 ....A LOT. If I could I'd get both I would, but I can't. I went to the Kansas City car show as a "pilgrimage" to make my mind up of which I liked best. When I saw the Concept in person, the hair on the back of my neck stood up! I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT!! I decided to wait on the Camaro since then up to about a month or so ago. I'm back on the fence now. Even if the prices were the same, there's A LOT to be said for being able to order a Corvette NOW the way I want it as opposed to having to wait until 2010 to get a Camaro the way I want it.

.....hell, I'm still not sure
Very well put....I'm going through the same pains right now for exactly the same reasons and have been researching the new vettes all week. I'm just hoping the need for speed goes away with the warm weather...I stil have 18 months to go on my CTS lease. But the new vette just keeps looking better and better (and AVAILABLE)

Thats how I see it. So it is semi personal, and it still puts a smile on my face every time I see any one of the concepts.
Nominated for best description of a Camaro ever

That said, I would like a targa top.
I'd beg GM to not ruin this cars image with t-tops. I agree with the guy who said to let them die with mullets and Whitesnake.

It's just not what Detroit needs right now. And I think the fervor for them would be squashed with a targa top, and force all these blind people who think the greasy, mullet-blowing-in-the-wind look is somehow desirable or hot for GM.

That's exactly what's associated with them (outside of leaks..) and there's no way around this.
There are no t-top cars in production right now, and I'd laugh at Ford if they created one. Make this car halfway modern and classy, something I don't feel like 100% hick driving (rather than my usual 70%).

Most likely, they'll release a targa top or something a year or two after I buy mine. Just how GM rolls typically, but I'm willing to bet now they are finally ready to play ball as its Do or Die for them now, which is why this Camaro is going to offer enough value to hurt the Vettes resale.

T-Tops, STAY DEAD.

What kind of frame are they going to have to use (and how much will it weigh) on the convertible? No roof OR "B" pillar. This is just another marketing scam to save the General millions of devaluing dollars!!! Think of it, two less switches, wiring, motors, window tracks. Not to mention easier to put together on the line. How in the world did they build cars 40 years without all these stupid ideas??????????
