By and large, we live in a society obsessed with numbers. How much money do you make? How big is your home? How many ounces is that piece of steak? Of course, those of us who obsessively cover the auto industry are most often concerned with numbers like top speed and peak horsepower. This being the case, we find ourselves keenly interested in the latest offering from Hennessey, which packs a modified LS9 V8 engine - more commonly found in the engine bay of the amazing Corvette ZR1 - in the new 2010 Chevy Camaro.
So, wanna know how much power the Hennessey HPE700 is packing? Of course you do. How about 645 rear-wheel horsepower and 653 lb-ft of torque? Yeah, that'll do nicely. These are the initial figures recorded on the HPE700's first dyno pull and were achieved with 14.5 psi of boost from the supercharger and 93 octane pump gas. Also, take special note of the dyno graph, which shows a squiggly line that isn't so much a torque peak as it is a torque plateau. Nice. Click past the break to watch the video.
