Is the location of the gages on the console really an issue? (I have a feeling you guys are going to need a plastic surgeon to remove the permanent grins from your faces. )

Not really, since it will most likely be different on the production version. This is to see what it is like to drive the concept as the concept that it is and not to drive it expecting a production version to be the same. The details will change, that is for sure. However, the overall and general feel such as the size of the car, placement of the driver etc, may not change very much. Bear the differences in mind.

Re: Now it is our turn to drive the Camaro Concept!

-Do you sit more upright in this car, as opposed to the bathtub-style position in the 3rd/4th Gens?

-Does it feel as low to the ground as the previous Gens?

-Does its sedan roots show? (Goes back to the whole size thing)

I'm really most curious about driver positioning, does it "feel" like the Camaro we're used to or is it higher, more upright and more commanding like a sedan, or the Mustang....

I don't know if they had gotten that for or even if they are interested in making something like that. They probably want to leave that up to the iPod since many of their existing solutions simply allows for iPod integration. I am guessing it would most likely be an OE solution similar to what they currently use. Bose, Monsoon, or even Pioneer () like in the Cobalt.

Regardless, if we get the chance, we will indeed ask.
Well, if the radio doesn't have this feature, then I'm not buying the car!

(See I've been lurking around for a bit.)

Seriously, though, I'm sure whatever imput you give back will be heard by the developers. I thought that such a radio may be too expensive for the car, but it would be a really nice feature. At the least, the radio needs an auxiliary jack.

The only real deal breaker preventing me from buying the car is how comfortable I'm am in the car. I'm 6'3", so headroom/legroom is of high importance. I really see this as a non-issue, because I'm sure GM will make sure taller people will have no problem sitting in the car. (at least the front seats)

Oh, by the way, thanks for the welcome.

I agree, but that is crossing the line between being an auto manufacturer and a portable audio manufacturer. Just doesn't seem to fit withing the usual scope.

I like to think it will have something to that nature.

However, so much in that department will be different we will be asking about it but not focusing on it when it comes to the drive.

What will be important...

Frezza is over 6' tall, and he shops in the husky section, so I think he will be a good judge for the taller folks. I believe that the production version should have a bit more headroom than the concept as well.

Oh, by the way, thanks for the welcome.

Since you'll be speaking directly with the people developing the car, there is one feature I'd like to see as an option on the car. I'd like the stereo system operate similarly to Sony's MEX-1GP radio. The face of the radio has 4GB of memory and detaches so you can download MP3's from your PC to it.

Sony MEX-1GP detached face

Another idea is for the radio capable of reading SD memory cards, so you can download MP3 to the cards.

The key to such a radio will be the interface; it will have to be easy to navigate through your music on it or it will be too hard to use while driving.
I'd be totally content with a jack to plug my MP3 player in... All my music is there, I don't care to have to load it onto something else again.

I would be interested to know how easy/difficult getting in and out of the car is. The 4th gen's are low and have long doors making entry/exit in tight areas difficult.

I'll be taking a few measurements here and there.
