Overall width; What should we expect?

Overall width; What should we expect?
I enjoyed the thread on roof height. 3/4-1 inch eases my worries about the greenhouse. That shouldn't be noticable unless the car is side by side with the concept and then just barely.
Anybody care to ease my mind on overall width? I love the wide aggressive look and hope they don't narrow the production version too much.

Re: Overall width; What should we expect?
I'd sacrifice the aggressive "look" of the concept's wide stance to have a narrower, more "user-friendly" car . My 4th-gen is already parking lot "un-friendly" . I can't imagine anything wider??
ALSO, ~2" or so width off of the entire length of the car would cut down a significant amount of weight . Think about that .

Re: Overall width; What should we expect?
I agree 110% . I honestly hope they narrow down the production car a little bit from the concept, which will "hopefully" keep it in the ball-park, weight-wise, of ~3500 - 3600 lbs?? Optimistically speaking . And again, it'll just make it an easier car to get in/out of in parking lots and stuff (real world).

Re: Overall width; What should we expect?
To do it right they and cuty length they would need to lose length and height to keep the proportions right.
I expect the lenght not to change and with may change just a little in the wheel well area and not flair as much. They will narrow the tires so they will not need a flaired fenders,
The car is near the size of the present Mustang now so they will not shorten it and width reduction will be minimal.
They claim the new Impala RWD would be just a lttle wider than what is out now. I can't recall the number I saw but is was just a very little.
I would expect the Camaro and Impala to share the same track and near body width. At least that is my guess.
We should start a thread of what changes should we expect to the styling and other areas outside drivetrain and interior should we expect.

We could always ask for "Lambo" doors . Go Hollywood style .

Re: Overall width; What should we expect?
I believe scissor doors ARE lambo doors, with the latter being the vernacular. Like gullwings = DeLorean doors.
I know its seen as as over the top and what not, but its not that much more expensive then regular doors.
If performance cars keep getting bigger, we will probably see them trickle down.

Re: Overall width; What should we expect?
Lets remember that the Concept was 79" wide! That is the width of a Chevy Suburban! The STS is around 72" and the VE cars are right at 72" as well. I think we can say the production car will be between 72" and 74".

Re: Overall width; What should we expect?
There's only one problem. You narrow it that much and it will KILL the look of the car. From 79" to 72" and raise the height?! Not good.
I'm hoping for at least 76" in width. You'll never know it from inside the car and it won't kill the look.
You shave it down to 72 or even 74 and you can kiss those gorgeous rear haunches bye-bye.

Re: Overall width; What should we expect?
Wide track = better cg = better cornering ability with less roll.
wide track = roomier interior
wide track = more room for true dual exhaust or room for twin turbos.
Wide has its advantages, folks.
