Did anyone figure out what the "SET/CLR" on the left shaft was for. Is it really redundant cruise control buttons?

There's no "redundant" cruise. That IS the cruise control. The steering wheel controls are for the Onstar, radio and driver information center (DIC)

If that is true, what's with the cruise control symbol on the left side of the steering wheel? It also has "+" and "-" thumb wheel that appears to be for speed control.

Ask a Cadillac owner, the same thing is on the 2009 CTS steering wheel, at least according GM's images. Frezza...are you reading this? I doubt that there are two locations for cruise control.

This has been bugging me for awhile now, enough for me to finally make an account...The buttons on the left of the steering wheel are definately for cruise control...but I still don't know what the left lever is for. The only thing I can think of, is that it's for controlling the onboard computer(i.e. the fuel economy/odometer and such.) I still haven't been able to find a better picture of it though to confirm. Can someone tell me if that's right or not? Or is that what the thing that Jason wanted us to look real hard at the steering wheel area for? Still confused...

Cool

Here is a comparison with my 09 Cadillac CTS steering wheel:

On the left hand side of the steering wheel we have the On/Off button for cruise control, +Res (Resume/Accelerate), SET- (Set/Coast), Cancel (cancels cruise control without erasing the set speed from memory), and source for the radio (goes between AM/FM/XM/AUX/CD). On the right hand part of the steering wheel, you have the ^ V (Previous/Next) as well as the phone icon with a slash through it. This button is used to either go to the previous or next radio station stored in your favorites, or previous or next track on a CD. The down button (also marked as a phone with a slash through it) is used if you are using a paired bluetooth phone and want to end the call. Next is the volume up and down button. Lastly is talking phone icon which is used for bluetooth and Onstar.

The left stalk on the steering wheel controls the lights / the right stalk controls the wipers. Hope this helps.

So, what does the "SET/CLR" do on that left stalk? What are you setting and what are you clearing?

From the pics, it appears to me the crowd are certainly not in agreeance with the generally critical nature of the collective opinion here.... which is good!

You can live in the car! It's like multi-tasking.
