Wink Prediction on Future

As the site sits now its probley about 80-90% 4th gen owners. When the new Camaro comes out that will all change, maybe the 4thgen will be looked upon like the 3rd .

I bet that there will be a surplus of new first time camaro owners posting that are ignorant to other Gens. And will probley ask the same questions we've already went over(ohh wait that happens now ). But on the good side this site will grow a lot hopefully...

Anyone else think like this, or have any predictions...

No offense, but that is a pretty bold statement for someone with only 4 posts.

Especially since he just registered in January of 07. Must have been reading unregistered for a loooong time to say something like that.

Yes I own a 4th gen. But I also own two 1st gens. I actually have been looking for another project (ssshh, don't tell my wife) and even here in sunny California (KAH-LEE-FORN-YAH if you ask our governor ) 4th gens are more abundant and cheaper than 2nd gens and are even creeping as low as some 3rd gens in price.

My point? Nothing really. But then this thread seems to be about pointless statements.

Sure, there will probably be a lot of new members coming here, who are new to Camaros completely (heck, I hope so ... that will mean that GM has attracted new buyers! ) but keep in mind, while "we" the current generation may have a very good "heads up" on things about the 5th-gen, we'll all be nOOb 5th-gen owners as well, and have to learn just as much about the cars as the NEW owners/members to the site, so hey, it'll just be a learning curve for everybody, so we need to cut people some slack for their "lack of knowledge" (<--less harsh than ignorant ) and not portray the "elitist" attitude which is not very becoming of a site which is as classy (IMO) as CZ28.com can be .

lol... I already have a college student at home that's bleeding me dry.

Seriously though. I was looking for a 2nd or 3rd gen the other day, and saw a few 4th gens for less than the price of a semi-clean 2nd gen. The sweet spot seems to be the 93-95 Z28s. I've seen several for under $5k.

Four posts, and you've been a member for less than one month, huh?

So..... tell me how much do you know about this site and the people here to make such statements and make a prediction like this?

FWIW: I'd say 4th gen ownership on this site is probally more like 20% or less if you include the folks in the lounge (which I'm sure has a high percentage of people who don't even own cars). Of some of the more longtime and passionate Camaro owners you'll find a Bullitt Mustang, a Grand Prix GXP, quite a few new-gen GTOs, a few Trailblazers (incxluding at least 1 TBSS), a Corvette collector, a few people who own Holden Commodores, a Monte Carlo owner, and a whole host of other cars with nary a 4th gen Camaro amoung them. One person is a sales manager at a Dodge dealer. Another drives a Solstice.

Amoung others there is a very high percentage of people who favor the 3rd gen Camaro over the 4th. Also there's a number of people, who while current 4th gen owners, have intrest in other cars... Thunderbird SCs for me, and 1st gen Camaros for at least a couple of others.

What brings us all together is a LOVE and APPRICIATION for a car that has alot of history behind it. A few of us have owned a few 4th gen Camaros or Firebirds, but more have previously owned some type of Camaro in our past (recent or otherwise).

Just a few observations I've picked up being on this site for over 6 years and having the pleasure of meeting alot of these guys last year at the Camaro unveiling (and meeting a few people when I went down to Australia a few months ago). An outlook you can't get from just 4 posts and a membership measured virtually in days.

I'm not flaming or slamming you in any way, so don't take it as such. We all welcome any new intrest in this site because as mentioned, it means Camaro's intrest is spreading beyond just diehard enthusiasts and those of us who have had a history of Camaro in the past. My point is that this site has a jawdropping number of members for a website devoted to a single car name, and is one of the most visited of any GM related website. I discovered it when they got a blurb in Hot Rod Magazine at least 7 years ago. You don't get that type of popularity or those membership numbers just depending on what is arguably the least successful Camaro model to date.

Though it may seem like I just stumbled on to this site last month I have been hanging around this site a very long time. I once had another screen name and came here often.

I rember when the home page was two 95 black/stripped Z28's,there was a save the f-body petion webpage, and the f-body father was know only as Redplanet. So I think that I have decent perception of things.

Sorry for stepping on anyones toes with the join date. I just waited to get a 4th Gen before I felt welcome again.

If this becomes the case, it will definitely take some time. Not everyone is going to run out to buy a 5th gen and for those that do, there is a chance that they will never become a registered member of this site anyhow. The 4th gen crowd is here to stay for quite awhile.

Why would you need to actually own a 4th gen to be welcome here?

I think the same thin will happen as has on the Mustang borads. Lots of variety of new and older models. Those sites have not been taken over by the 05 and newer Stangs. So I think "us" 5th gen owners will play nice too!

It will be interesting. The newest f-bodies are, for the most part, the same as the '93 model.

All gens are known quantities now. Knowledge of the in's and out's is here and available. 5th gen will be a whole new animal. This is something that hasn't happened in the F-bod community for 14 years now...before the internet was anywhere near mainstream.

well yes there will be a lot of first time camaro owners on here i'm sure once the 5th gen is for sale, but then again we still have first time owners with 3rd gens still. i'm not sure about the percentage of 4th gen owners though.

the 4th gen looked as a 3rd gen? eh, maybe but not right away for sure...especially the LS1's. it will take quite a while before the 5th gen owners percentage will come even close to matching the current 4th gen owners...probably at least 7-8 years(the 4th gen does cover 9 model years and some people just finished paying off those 02's )

the 4th gen years were low production though roughly 680,000 total. And only a very small percentage of those were v-8 ~230,000. GM has a goal of 150,000 units/year which imo is way to conservative. there will be way more demand than GM thinks
