LS2 Z/28 well equipped (as in base V8 if there ever could be one) priced at 26k in 2005 or 2006 dollars would be cool. However I wonder what sort of cost savings can be had with the F-bod over the Goat?

LS2 with 400+ HP will be over 30k, don't kid yourself...

Re: Price New Camaro
What makes the 5.3l significantly cheaper? Aren't it and the 6.0l LS2 more or less the same guts and size wise. Kinda like the old 305s vs 350s, don't see why one was really any cheaper to make than the other.
If the 5.3l is making 350ish hp they can't really skimp on the drivetrain and save costs there, probably cheaper just to use the same tranny/reared/whatever else drivetrain related on all the normal V8s. Where is this 5.3l going to save $3-4k + over a LS2??

Re: Price New Camaro
If its over 30k for a "small" V-8 forget it,its doomed. The GTO's downfall is no entry level performance for around 25K,color and trans is all you get at 32K thank you very much.GM better wake up if they think the 25-35 crowd w/wife + morgage and maybe kids can plunk down $600.00 a month plus high insurance for a weekend cruiser

I do agree that to be competetive with the mustang they need a v8 at $25,000~ price but I doubt the 5.3l ls4 costs any less money to make than the 6l ls2. Unless they use a cast iron v8 out of a truck or something.
