Price a used 2SS/RS

I test drove a used 2SS/RS at a dealer in town today. It was way nicer than the 1LT I drove last May!

It is a Silver car with a M6. It had 9xx miles on the clock and looked to be unmolested. The dealer has a silly price on the window that's more than MSRP for a new one. If I were to make an offer, what do folks think it would take to get it? Dealer invoice according to the Camaro Builder is around 33K (and that was assuming it had some things that I am not certain of).

BTW, the salesman said it was an ordered car that the fellow traded back in because he needed a truck. This sounds like a story I've heard before and is setting off my crap detector...

Thoughts??

Most used ones in these parts are also priced over MSRP, usually at least $38k. They've been for sale for a while, so people aren't buying, however I think folks are just being greedy.

This one was 38,950 +/-. I didn't pay full attention because when I saw 38, I chuckled inside. I think I may keep to my wait-it-out approach. I don't really "need" another car right now.

Here in Mid-Michigan they are starting to finally sit on lots. LS,LT,1SS,2SS and all available for supplier price plus another 500 off if you pass on the 60 day thing. And if you can get it GM pricing. I have had 3 dealers that I left my name at call me and offer me a car below MSRP.

Yea, in Michigan you can get a new one for $1,000 under MSRP. But in all seriousness, sometimes you have to twist the arm of the salesman so they can wake up and relize they're being a bit ridiculous.

Don't forget Under 3k miles, is the break in period. 9XX miles sounds like a driver who beat it, then left it.

Do you know the VIN? You could look it up at http://camaro.spasticsquirrel.com They have stopped posting MSRP's but if it was early enough you will have the exact price of that car. I know you don't "need" another car, but you want one. Because it is not just a car, it's a Camaro! Heck, if it's exactly what you want it, offer $6k or so under MSRP and see what happens. But if it's not exacly what you are looking for you should probably wait to avoid any regrets later. Besides, with winter weather aproaching are you really going to be able to enjoy it prior to the spring?

I didn't meen to give you advise when I started. I just wanted to make sure you knew where you might be able to get more info. Sorry

I'll stop by tomorrow and jot down the VIN. Do NOT apologize for the friendly advice. I appreciate your thinking...

John,

Thanks for the offer. I'm not ready to buy new just yet. I *think* I want an SS, but I may choose an LT M6 (after I get a chance to drive one). I suppose a trip to Michigan to pick it up could be fun, though

What's up with Michigan and all the "surplus" Camaros?

Winter is coming (RWD + low ground clearance + heavy snow = ), and a lot of people around here don't have jobs.

I'm afraid I think your second reason may be the strongest.

Also your allocation is based off your total sales. Michigan dealerships do a larger volume of vehicles due to the fact of having GM here. So we earn more vehicles. I agree that the economy has had a effect on the amount in stock but we are selling a large amount of these out of the state all over the country.
