Promoting and moving the Camaro into the Future
#16
Something like this is in the works. Ford is trying to get it started. They build the Mustang KR...king of the road...based on the 2005+ mustang....it's a full on race car, uses a 500 horsepower version of their ford-racing 5.0 cammer engine, fully stripped interior, completely redone suspension, lightened to about 3100 pounds, racing tires, racing exhaust, full racing bodykit with lip spoiler and huge rear spoiler. They're offering it for purchase to SCCA members to compete with, and attempting to get a series started with both Dodge and Chevrolet, since everyone is coming out with muscle cars now. They say they want to have a special series just for those cars. American muscle cars, production based, strict set of rules, keep the playing field even. Mustang, Camaro, Charger/Challenger.
How freaking awesome would that be?
Then chevy should sell a stripped version of the Camaro to the public...with the sound deadening material deleted, AC/Radio/Power windows/door locks deleted, rear seat delete, etc. Just like the Mustang Cobra R of the 90's that was offered to the public. A lighter (I suppose that would bring it down to 3300-3400 pounds) stripped, special edition limited production version with some beefed up components, for an extra fee. I'd LOVE to own a stripped camaro like that and take it to track days.
