Does anyone know what happens? can you pick what dealer it goes to? Does that dealer get to charge you what he wants?

I'm not sure if the order cancels or not, although I'm pretty sure it will. If you put down a deposit, you may have a heck of a time getting it back. Yes, you can buy from one dealer and have it shipped to another for a small fee (I'm doing that myself), but the dealer you buy the car through is the one who you sign the sales contract with....you have to buy through another dealer if your original is out of business. Basically, you start over and they can charge whatever price they want.

If GM has some kind of program to deal with this, maybe a way to transfer orders, I don't know of it....someone will chime in if there is.

When I ordered my 95 Firebird Formula in 94, about 1 1/2 months after I placed the order I stopped in the dealers to see how things were going. The salesman that I placed the order with was no longer working there. I talked to another salesman who said the dealership was in trouble and I probably wouldn't get the car. They were pretty cool and refunded my $500 deposit. He also called a friend at another dealership who said he would help me out. I ended up having to reorder the car and payed $400 more for it. That wasn't so bad since my car was a 6 speed and they were hard to get at the time. Most dealers were charging $3,000 or more over MSRP for them. I ended up paying $800 over invoice. I hope things work out for you as good as they did for me

Go to another dealer with your order number and have them check to see if it's still an active order. If it is, maybe you can work out a deal with them and have it transferred over to them. If that's too much of a hassle, just reorder.
