IMO there should definetly be an RS, whether it's a model or appearance thing. I'd rather have that model around over the overuSSed, misuSSed designation.

RS available on any trim level just adds too much to the alphabet soup od the model name. "I have a Camaro Z28 RS" or "I have a Camaro SS RS"...

The classy, stripe-less, scoop and spoiler free, silver concept seems alot like what a Camaro RS might look like.

I loved the two toned look of the second gen RS packages! I'm hoping they do something to that extent... like what has been posted in the photoshop thread, two toned body color packages with a little dress up here and there.
AND INCLUDE THE LATE 60s RS HEADLIGHT COVERS!!!!!

Id like to have a '91-92 RS for a daily driver.

But an '08 or '09 5.3L w/DOD Camaro RS that gets about 30mpg highway with 325hp would suit me well for about $24K...

Hmmm...sounds just like that mid-level V8 model I've been crowing about for the last 5 years... That is literally the car I'd buy, what you just described.

As a former '89 RS owner, I like the "retro" appeal of bringing the RS moniker back Give me what Guy just described for $25-26k, and I'm sold

Hoods, fascias, powertrains, wheels, suspensions...

It's pretty apparent that this won't be a repeat of the 4th gen.

Keep in mind folks that RS, Rally Sport or Ralley Sport (All three were used at some point) didn't always mean V8. The first gen RS cars could be had with the 230 cid straight six.

Personally, I have always loved the first gen RS Camaros. They have always been my favorite. My first Camaro was an RS. I own an original RS now. And I've even thought of converting my blue 67 coupe to an RS clone.

The best RS Camaros were the 3rd gens IMHO. A Camaro RS could be a nice sleeper back then. The 4th gens were a different story though and RS mainly became a boy racer ground effects and spoiler package as others have mentioned.

Personally, I don't care if RS is revived, mainly because the idea of the Rally Sport was bastardized in the 4th gens. (Interesting that although we argue over whether a Z/28 should still exist, everyone seems to be less emotional about the RS which was also a Camaro-specific trim package.) However, I don't think you should be able to "option-up" a base V6 Camaro to make it look like a Camaro SS or Camaro Z/28. If you're going to offer a styling package called "RS" make it different from the two performance Camaros.

I also do not see a need or purpose of a base or mid-level V8. But then I believe I'm in the minority on this.

With all due respect, I sure as hell HOPE you're in the minority. Cheap V8 performance is the essence of Camaro. Its the reason why out of 70k Camaros built in '92, 39k were 305 TBI RSs...which also happened to be the last time you could even get a base V8!!

Some people just have to have the V8, but don't want to pay for the other stuff. I'd rather have a 300hp 4.8 (which no, I don't think we'll get) than a 300hp VVT 3v 3.9 V6 as an optional base motor...by a long shot. Some people want the sound and the feel of a V8, and won't buy a Camaro if they can't afford that. You can definitely put me in that group...

As an owner of a 92 RS, I absolutely love the RS. However as much as I love it, I'd rather have a Z/28. Having said that, I still want to see an RS model. I think it could help sales when compared to mustang. If Chevy offered an RS model that was in between the Base and Z/28 model, with a small V8 and low price tag, I think it could sell like mad. Give those teenagers who can't afford a Z/28, a fast and affordable camaro that can hold up with a mustang GT. We all know the Z/28 will whip the GT, so I feel they should make the RS comparable to the GT in terms of performance. Just my .02.
