George Moore Chevrolet here in Jacksonville, FL got in a IO 2SS on Wednesday the 20th. I finally got around to getting up there and noticed that the brakes looked all rusted out. Whats up with this?
BTW, sticker was at $36,900. Not an RS, only 2SS.....

 

Thats because it hasn't been driven in a while. Just a quick spin around the parking lot would clear that off.

yep, rotors will do that quite often. If I dont drive my car for a week or so, rust may start to develop on the rotors, but it would be gone by the time I got to the end of the street.

 

Perfectly normal. Any rain or high humidity will do that to rotors. Try living up here in NH and watch everything rust after the road salt eats it. Living in the corrosion belt sucks.

 

Its just as bad here in humid Mississippi where the air is so thick you can almost drink it.

 

Haven't you ever washed your car before? The rotors pretty much rust up right after you spray them. The more iron in a rotor, the more it rusts. Anyway, as the others have been saying, it will come right off.

 

Like everybody said, its perfectly normal. I detail for a dealership here and its customary to ride the brakes a little bit to get rid of the rust before delivering a car or putting a vehicle in the showroom.

 

I've washed my car tons of times, but thats never happened to me.

If its so easy to come off, I don't know why they wouldn't drive it quick to get it off.....

I don't know why they didn't get the RS package.....seems that if you get a demo car to show off to potential customers you'd wanna have all the bell's n whistles.....

 

I would want it there, its real proof they haven't been joyriding.

 

I will say on a point car at a dealer,showing off those pretty brembo calipers,rusty rotors ruin the party. As repeated here,situation normal. And an easy fix. Maybe the reason they opted to waive the RS option was because of the rumoured delay on the RS ordered option? One member here has been delayed month's.

 

It depends on the metallurgy of the rotors. Change the material a little, and they won't do that.

 

It will come back.

 

According to my local dealer, which has an IO 2SS RS...they did not have a choice in what demo car they received. They just had to accept what GM sent them.

 

The spokes are still wet, looks like they've just washed it
