Saving General Motors TV Show w/ Camaro

i still think the firebird interior is nice.
and i still think the 93-96 camaro interior is a great design but terrible overuse of plastic. and the doors are boring. the 97+ went all out boring with slightly higher quality materials/fit/finish.
the off the shelf hvac/radio are complaint worthy i suppose.
my only real complaints are the rattles. everything rattles. the dash, the windows when theyre down, etc.
the third gens arent anything to write home about.

Just watched the show and my favorite part was Ed Welburn responding to the question, "did GM take too long getting to market with the Camaro?" His response, we had to get it right and we did. Not sure of the exact quotes but the key point is getting it right. I will buy this car and I will bet GM will do very well because they are taking the time to do things right these days. I drove the new Malibu at work the other day and what a great car. It made me excited to see what the Camaro will feel like when I see it and drive it.

..my buddy had a new 93 camaro and with the air blower on high it made so much rattle noise out of the vents you had to have the stereo volume way up...i never even considered a chevy after that...those interiors were junk and to understand how junk all you had to do was go sit inside a japanese car.GM's current troubles have been in the works for years....until GM figures out that they do not know whats best for the consumer they will have there problems...GM curently has 2 winners...cts and malibu..lets hope camaro is on that list..

I just saw the program at 1am. It was great, especially the Camaro part. The Malibu really is all it was cracked up to be and then some. I still love mine like the day I got it and its been 6 months already. The dated models need their MCE's or replacements and I think GM will be in great shape as far as product offerings go.

I didn't catch that show but did see the NBC national news last night. Did a story on how GM cars are the new status symbols in China in the following order: Cadillac>Buick>Chevrolet (the more things change, the more they stay the same). Said GM MADE 1 billion in that market last year.
The part the made me snicker, for good not bad, was when they interviewed and up and coming Chinese man about why he was looking to buy a Chevrolet, "Because Chevrolet means quality." Take that Toyota!!!

I liked the program. I did notice they kept showing the third gen interior when they talked about poor quality. Looked just like my interior only in better condition. It kind of sounded like Dale Jr was saying that the body roll was a good thing. I'm sure thats not what he meant but it confused me for a second. I'll probably watch it again later.

Honestly back in 1996 when I bought my Trans Am, the interiors of most other cars I remember were far from good. The 4th gens interior may not be the best but it still looks somewhat modern, has held up well for me with the exception of the driver side window and lock buttons. Personally I really like the way it's all laid out as well, comfortable and easy to use. I am biased I suppose, but I think they coulda found alot of other GM cars that had far worse interiors, even some of the Caddies from the 90's were pretty bad.

That's why he was driving the car and the car he was driving was a test mule...to take care of things that were mentioned. It was also mentioned that he was among the first to drive it. It must have been early in the mule testing phase.
I can say without a shred of doubt that when the car was being developed, if comment like that was even mumbled in passing, it would be investigated thoroughly. If things like that were selectively ignored, the car would have probably been in the showrooms sooner. Chevrolet won't let things like that ...be something they hope no one notices..
