Oh I am definitely telling the truth. I am 90% sure it was the new Camaro. At first it looked like a beat-up old '69 Camaro in the distance because of the black covering thing. Then once it got closer I realized what it was.

My drive to work has some interesting cars. I usually see the same black Viper ACR, and white Roush Mustang. There is also a new Viper SRT10 that comes out every once in a while, along with a Supra TT and yesterday I saw a DB7 Vanquish.

I'm going to start keeping my camera in my car just in case.

I believe it. There's all kinds of mules and test cars running around southeast Michigan.

I believe it being that you're in Michigan. There is a Mercedes plant near me and whenever they are coming out with a revamped/new model in the near future, I frequently see them around town covered in that black stuff.

Well, what the OP is describing is kind of one of the next steps to Camaro production...

Usually a lot of on-road testing occurs in the final stages before production. Granted, it's only 2007, but they may be extending this part of the project to ensure a really solid, successful product release.

Usually the "wraps" will cover the hood, headlamps, turn signal markers, bumper cover, etc -- kind of like a bra. The rest of the lamps are usually bordered in black tape, and patches of black/white wrap are placed over significant body lines. I've driven pre-production prototypes before (as my job), so I'm semi-quasi in the loop on this stuff. This is all very possible...

I see strange looking cars all camo'd out near the tech center all the time. Typically they're covered to a point where it's hard to decipher what it is unless it's stopped next to you. I've yet to see a 5th gen driving around, but i don't doubt it.

It pretty much looked like this...

Just a quick photochop...

I distinctly remember the tail lights. They had the "wrap" cut out in a way that it looked like 4 little squares (they pretty much are). Also, there were very generic wheels on it, nothing flashy or chromed out.

those chrome exhaust tip ports are kind of growing on me but what i really liked about 4th gen camaros was the fact that you could put any kind of tip, even no tip back there and it still looked fine.

I don't believe so, they changed them up a bit, but the exhaust still exits out the bumper
