Short throw shifter

yes i know that if you buy something after market and not through gm that it voids the warranty. the point i was making is that in the price of the shifter, the instalation price may be included. hence the 380 from gm and 250+/- aftermarket.

Now wait a minute....from what I see on that picture is it simply a matter of cutting the shifter shaft and shortening it? I thought it was a different shift linkage package...not just a shorter shifting arm.
Obviously I don't have a picture or idea of what it looked like before and after, so I'm assuming the pic is of the "after", and that just looks like a shifter arm shortening kit.

Sorry...my last post should be deleted. I was doing other things while looking at the pic. There probably is more involved in the kit than a shorter shifting rod, but it all looks mechanical. Should be something us gearheads can install ourselves.
So when was anything installed for free at a dealer? I'll see what I can find on the corvette sites about this part and report back.

The fact is when it says dealer installed as I have worked for GM for 11 years the part is installed as part of the pre delivery inspection and the dealer gets paid from GM for this automatically and most of the time pdi will be done before you get there.

no one said they couldnt do it. the point was that it is a dealer installed accesory and that nothing will come out of pocket to have it put in. we werent arguing that its too hard to put in. some of us stated that we are going to leave it to the dealer to install it.

If I can build modded big blocks for my boat I can certainly install the shifter. But if it costs me near as much to buy it at dealer discount and install it myself as it does to have the dealer do it, I will certainly let the dealer do it and avoid the warranty issues.
I still hav'nt checked digitalcorvettes.com yet to try to get more info on . Hopefully later tonight...
