ok so that camaro i saw wasnt the display car. it was for stock. and it has black leather. and ...they are selling it for 10k over sticker. but only because its stock. all presold orders were sold for MSRP. so i guess if theres someone who really wants one but didnt order one, i can see why they marked it up.

Yes, I'm well aware of this. GM made the Buick store my father had worked at for 30 years before retiring sell to the Pontiac/GMC/Cadillac dealership down the street, they then turned it into a Chevrolet dealership and moved the Buick franchise to the Pontiac/GMC/Cadillac store (thus completing the PBG group at that dealership). THEN GM forced an absolutely gigantic floorplan on the Chevy dealership (an inner city dealership that couldn't possibly move that volume) and pulled their franchise after they couldn't meet sales targets. They then forced them to sell the PBGC store to another dealer group.

They can do a lot, but they can't tell the dealers what to price the cars at. It's price fixing - which is illegal.

Camarooneboy24 go to Sierra Chevy in Monrovia MSRp only. Pre-sale or off the floor only. The manager said they are not trying to gouge people. BTW is that Camaro you are in at Mark Christopher?

sat in a fully loaded IOM SS with CG stripe, and a Black 1LT with polished 19" no RS
the SS was a beauty but out of my price range for sure. the one i put together is going to cost 30,000 total total.

Go perform a search and read FBodfather's post on the subject.

Here - found it:

Let me repeat: You cannot tell a dealer what price he can charge for a new car or truck.. that's why it's called Manufacturer's SUGGESTED retail price. It is federal law. Period. The end. (don't like it? Call your congressman!)

See -- there's usually a good answer for why we do -- or don't do -- something.

Playing devil's advocate -- look at what classic Camaros are bringing on the market -- they're bringing stupid amounts of money -- BECAUSE there is a demand for them.

The same is true for when something DOESN'T sell -- the price drops! New vehicles get bigger incentives -- Used vehicles just have the selling price dropped.

Oh-- and to the fellow that has TWO orders -- you DO realize, don't you - that if we build both of them, one of the ones we build will delay other peoples' Camaros -- right?

Coercion isn't legal; it's just easier to get away with than outright revocation of a franchise license.
