To keep with tradition shouldn't the Camaro be the Straight Line King and the Corvette be the King of the Twisties Why Not

What tradition are you talking about? The Camaro has always been able to handle in the "twisties".

A "good" driver in average conditions can pull off high 11's.

Assuming we're not racing at Atco in the late fall (), stock 5th gens aren't going to be running 12 flat.

That said, this list is as accurate as it can be as of 08/17/2007.

Even eliminating Jamie from Z06Vette.com, and using only the "trusted" top 10 members of this forum, the average of the top 10 listed ETs, is a blistering 11.367 seconds. The average of the top 5 is an incredible 11.262 seconds. And the average of the first 10 listed trap speeds is @ 124.98 MPH.

Okay, and how many of those runs were made at Atco in the fall, with a DA of -2000 or better? And are you seriously suggesting that Ranger is just an "average" driver?

This was on Drag Radials and Ranger made the pass. I said 10.8x was with a pro driver.

My 94 ran a 11.0 pretty consistant, it made 504 RWHP, see details in the sig. I think a vette being alot lighter and better suspended than my camaro should pull off mid to low 11's with ease.

I would like to see the entry level V8 car that will compete with the Mustang GT run a 12.8 or so. And then if the do make a supercharged car to be an SRT or Shelby alterative I would think based on what the 4th gen cars ran that the 5th gen car should be able to run around 12.2 If the entry level V8 car could sell for around 30 - 35 and the hipo car 38-42 I would be all over it.

Assuming 2 V8 options, I'd like to see the base V8 run 12.5 and the optional V8 go 11.9 with an above average driver.

The top ZL1 Camaro, or whatever they call it, should be a few ticks slower than the Z06. So like a very low 12 for the average driver.

Maybe a limited series of a carbon fibre hood, magnesium wheels, etc Camaro with a supercharged 6.2L can run mid 11s for the average driver.

its going to be tough for GM to market the Camaro. is this ZL1, top of the line, whatever you wanna call it going to be cheaper/comparably priced compared to a C6 yet be able to smoke it? does GM really want to do that?

Look at today's competition. The STI and Evo both run low 13s. The Mustang GT and 350Z high 13s. The mazdaspeed3 and WRX both run about 14 flat, the new Cobalt SS will be running low 14s.

A high volume V8 needs to be able to run low 13s to have a competitive edge. A high level v8 should probably run half second or so quicker, right with a C6.
