That is the rumor. There should be a V8 LS3 equal to or very close to the HP rating of the vette.
The high end V8 is rumored to be a supercharged V8 with over 500hp...of course these are only rumors.

I can see a 580 hp supercharged 6.2L V8 and yes I would buy it.

My guess is that it would be priced pretty similarly to a GT500, since that would be its primary competitor.

GT500............$41,930 MSRP
Super Camaro...$?????? MSRP
C6.................$46,225 MSRP

obviously, the GT500 doesnt sell at MSRP and neither will the super camaro. but its going to be faster and more powerfull than a C6 AND priced Cheaper??

Yep, but it won't be a two-seat roadster with cool doodads like magnetic shocks. It'll be a lot heavier, and won't handle as well. It's weight distribution won't be as good. And, I'm guessing, GM won't build nearly as many LS9 Camaros as LS3 Vettes.

11.7 @ 149mph
isn't that 9.7 @ 149??

I'd really love to see a top tog Camaro in the mid 12's...

And average, mid level ones in low 13's...

The last gen "SS"s were pulling some 12.80's around here with good track conditions and good tires with great drivers.

Agreed, the base V8 will be close to mid-12's with the LS3.

itll run a high 12, low 13. I expect it to perform very similarly to the last GTO's sold in 06. M6 usually pull a 13.1-13.3@107-109, The auto usually around a 12.9-13.1 with a good launch.

Itll have 3.42 gears. The aussie rear ends pretty much only have 3.42's or 3.90's and GM wont use a 3.90 for gas mileage purposes

3.42 gear is pretty near ideal for most purposes, especially since transmissions these days have steeper 1st gears.

I have seen people who couldnt break 14's in a Dodge Viper.

However,I think low 13's should easily be the " Average" for the new Camaro.

I've got a buddy who runs mid 9's....with a 340ci smallblock, in his '72 Demon, ALL MOTOR...727 trans, 4.88:1 gears. He can drive and he can dial in a chassis...

And yeah, I remember beating a lot of LS1 T/A's and Z's in my IROC...some people couldn't get out of the 14's with them. But most were low 13 second cars with good drivers.
