Solstice sized Firebird\T/A
Would anyone be interested in seeing Pontiac replace the Solstice with a firebird or TA? Same platform, similiar pricing, maybe more firebird cues designed in. Possibly squeeze a small v8 under the hood.
The name would return but knowlonger a stablemate to the camaro or compete with camaro for sales.
Would the firebird fans support this vehicle or not buy and complain as was with the 04-06 GTO?

According to G&C that the GTO is going away & something is going to be the new sister to the Camaro.
Now if thats a TA or Firebird I dont know. Still hanging on to the rumors.

I would support the building of a Firebird/TA, but not at the expense of the Solstice. The Solstice is a unique vehicle that will have some very amazing performance potential once the "tuners" get ahold of them.

- Replacing the GTO with a vehicle built on Camaro architecture
DETROIT -- After debating Pontiac's viability this year, General Motors' leadership plans to revive the brand's heritage of performance with a product lineup of exclusively rear-wheel-drive cars.

GTO is staying according to all the rumors and Bob Lutz, not to mention this email I recieved from Jim Hopson of Pontiac when I asked him about Firebird rumors.
So this is how I see he lineup for Pontiac in 09-10

Nick,
You're correct. To the best of my knowledge, there are no plans to bring
back the Firebird, even if the Camaro goes into production. More likely is
the creation of a different car off the same platform, which would most likely be a next-generation GTO.

See, the problem here is that in 1974 the Pontiac Grand Prix was the replacement for the GTO. The GTO is a high performance family car and always was. Firebird was a 2+2 sports car. Now if you could stretch a Solstice into a 2+2 sports car and give it a V8 and mean looks, absolutely, go for it.
But the reality is that the Firebird is an upmarket Camaro. More leather, more options, and meaner styling. The GTO is NOT a Firebird, never was, not even close.
GM would do well to copy Chrysler's Charger concept for the next GTO instead of trying to pretend that it could ever be a Firebird.
