Somewhat dissapointed in Mesa AZ
So the wife and I decided to visit our local Chevy dealership on Saturday to have a glimpse of the new Camaro. I have been following the develpment of this vehicle ever since I first heard about it a few years ago. I have long since been a Camaro fan and always will be. Upon finally seeing one up close and personal, I will admit, it is a beautiful machine. It's just straight up sexy. It has gorgeous lines and just oozes curb appeal. I'm very impressed with how it turned out. After some pleading with the dealership, they allowed us to take it out for a spin around the block. This particular Camaro was not the SS version unfortunately. It did have a nice assortment of gizmo's and gadget's and they are arranged in such a way as to not make it seem overwhelming. The seats are super comfortable and definately give you the feel of being locked into a race car. Again, I was impressed. That is until I turned the car over. I was expecting a little more noise coming from the engine. Granted the car was sporting the V6. I was still hoping it had just a little bit of growl from the exhaust. Instead it sounded rather pathetic. More like a golf cart on roids. There was this high pitched pinging sound and caused me to think of some ridiculous sounding import. My heart sank. Regardless of the exhaust note, I was still was excited about testing it out on the freeway. So with my wife and the annoying sales guy in tow we headed out. I punched it down the onramp and was expecting to feel myself getting thrown into my seat. It didn't happen. The car is quick don't get me wrong, but it just wasn't what I was expecting. 300 horses felt more like 100. My V6 Tundra feels like it has greater acceleration. Now I realize I'm probably stepping on a lot of toes by stating these things. Don't crucify me yet. I still love the Camaro. Like I said, I always will. I just don't think that the new V6 gives the Camaro justice. And at a price tag of over 36K. I could find something else a lot faster. I'm gonna hold out and save a little bit more and invest in the V8.

I am not real impressed w/ the interior...feels cheap. There are several dealerships in the area that have the 2010 Camaro. They are however V6 models. I would think that there is not that much difference between the V6 & V8 models. Just doesn't have that"solid" feel that a sportscar should have. Feels more like a cheap compact import on the inside. Wayyy tooo much plastic.

what do u want for the interior maybe some gucci seats possibly even a diamond incrested steering wheel they made it an affordable car not a luxury car if u dont like the interior go buy a damn cadillac or bmw

It's not a sports car, it's a pony car.

The challengers interior is friggin ugly as sin and pretty much a straight
copy of the chargers interior The cumstains interior is just as
ugly and WAYYYYY more of a "cheap" plastic feel and look SO how
you think the other two have better interiors makes me think you havent
even sat in a 5th gen yet .

I, too, had to go multiple rounds to get a test drive in a 2010 Camaro as well. And I told them just how ridiculous it was. One of them changed their tone very quickly--almost apologetic. The other passed me off to a salesman (this was the "floor manager") and told me to make it quick.
I don't expect red-carpet treatment, but I do expect to be treated with respect as a potential customer. My best car-buying experiences were completed with very professional sales staff who negotiate well. And when I walk up and provided them information, the next words out of their mouthes were, "Okay, I'll be right back with the keys." None of this conditional, dirty, tricky stuff. And for god's sake, I don't want some rookie sales kid leaving the lot sideways in a car I'm potentially looking at buying. If you're required to drive the car off the lot before the customer drives, fine, but be professional.

I would expect more for a $35-$40 "Sports Car" than cheap plastic. The car is gorgeous on the exterior & the interior looks fabulous but... Go sit in a ACURA RL/TL/TSX, Honda Civic, the new Nissan Skyline...you will see, feel, & hear the difference in the material used. The windows on the Camaro rattle when you open the door... it just doesnt feel "solid".
I just think that GM could've done a better job, that's all.
