Okay, here's my best "guess"....

Base V6, 285 hp, HF, 3.6, $22,500.

Camaro SS, 400 hp, 6.2L, $29,000.

Camaro Z/28, 450-500 hp, 6.2L, under $35,000.

Expect an RS package across the board.

Just a question, do you really expect them to put the HF 3.6 as the base engine? I was guesstimating it would get a revised 3.9L V6 (high value) motor...

Unless GM is thinking outside the box here (1990's-to-now GM would put the OHV motor in the base car, no question)...

That's what I'm thinking. Both HV and HF V6's have been considered and package protected for Camaro, but I'd have to say that right now, it appears that things are moving strongly towards a HFV6 base engine - both for certification and product placement reasons.

High Feature (HF) denotes the 4v DOHC V6. High Value (HV) denotes the pushrod V6.

Question. How would this lineup compete with the Mustang GT which starts right now at $26k? a $3k price gap in model price will not help the camaro sell more vehicles, it needs to compete better than that.

Well, most of the GT's I see have stickers from $27-$29K. We'll see what a base GT costs in '09.

I believe that its already been stated that Camaro would be priced withing a few hundred dollars either way of similarly equipped Mustangs.

Camaro's line-up will be competitive.

Exactly.

But since my post got some people up in arms, and I got called elitest, Allow me to retort.

Winky meaning "OK, the suit post was funny, so I'm not going to be mean despite the same question croping up seemingly every week, and you didn't use the search button."

First off, there ARE NO SPECS!!!.

Secondly, there is NO PRICING!!!

Finally, there is NO OPTION LIST!!!

The Camaro IS NOT being produced yet.

It IS NOT for sale.

There are NO brochures.
The guy seemed to expect there to be specs, pricing, & an option list. I stressed that there wasn't. I also pointed out there was no brochure which would contain such info. The car's not in production & it's not for sale so there is no option list, no specs, no pricing, no nothing.

I don't see any flaming or elitest attitude there.

It's still under development, it's still 2 YEARS away from any start of production or any start of sales.
Self explanitory. No flames or attitude there either.

We can GUESS, and we can ASSUME, but until the car is about to go down the assembly line, asking for pricing and options is pretty much an act of futility.
I stress that any info he gets on any of the questions he asks is just a guess or assumption. Certainly not a flame or attitude present there.

The Challenger & Skyline will be out in a just year. The Enclave within 8 months, . We don't know the final specs, options, or pricing on any of those, yet you're asking about a car 2 years down the road???
Pointed out vehicles that will be out sooner than Camaro, however the questions he asks about a Camaro 2 years away can't even be answered about vehicles that are comparitively around the corner.

My "" might be construed by people who got laughed at alot in school as a swipe, but it's a chuckle the way you'd chuckle after telling someone you can't afford a steak dinner after they ask you to buy them a car.

Some of you people are way, WAY too serious. If you want to see flames and elitist attitudes, do a quick check of other websites... or even the lounge.

You know when someone points out that I've gone too far, I'll appologize and/or back track, and those that know me KNOW that post isn't a flame or attitude. I'm sure some of you will even see this post as "eliteist" or a flame of some sort or another. If so, go jump in a lake.

Instead of looking for eliteist attitudes in harmless posts, perhaps you should be asking yourselves why do you see flames and attitudes in any post that isn't soft and marshmellowy.

I don't think we get any spillovers from any "Barney & Friends" websites.

In conclusion, I offer my signature in bold letters below.......

I never asked you to break down your post and for the record, I didn't even read it until now. Now that I did, I still don't see any problems with it. I was skimming the thread and noticed what the other people were saying and posted a general reminder that I have posted before.

If was was going to address you specifically, I would have used your name. Talk about people "being way WAY too serious".

In conclusion (and since I think I can assume that you were addressing ME to go "jump in a lake"), I offer my user title in bold letters to the left.......

I don't think he was addressing you Jason. (At least I didn't take it that way.)

This is a very true statement. I think this particular board (along with the Future Vehicles board) are some of the worse forums to browse on the net, because there are so many elitist attitudes on here it blows my mind. If you are not in with "the club" on here, then no one takes you seriously, and people skim over your posts. Forget about being a newbie here and coming here for info. There are too many regulars and "winkie club" members that really believe they are all that because their percieved value on this site is high, that arrogance has become acceptable among them.

This site still is a great site, and there are plenty of other great boards on here. This, in my opinion, is not one of the more user friendly ones on here.

Ever actually browse The Lounge? Doubt it. My money is still on this board being more elitist. Maybe it could compete in the flames category though, although The Lounge gets a lot more traffic.

So, if you are proposing that a v8 Camaro comes in at under $30k with 400 horses, than I think it is also safe to say that the rumors of a 425hp Challenger around $30k are more than reasonable. I remember this was the subject of much debate a few months back on here, with many people saying that power level at that price point would never happen. I think it is also a decent bet that if there is a 425hp $30k Challenger, then there may very well be a higher price point, even higher power SRT Challenger in the works, at least some time down the road.
