Spinoff: what should a Camaro Track Pack include?
#61
Take a page from the Mustang's playbook - use the already-developed Z/28 suspension. The Mustang's Track Pack is basically the GT500's suspension with better gearing and wider performance tires.
Do the same for the Camaro. Give it the Z/28's suspension and rear axle with at least 3.73 ratio gears, and put the widest tires possible on the car.

What we should have:
3.73 gears
~30% firmer spring rate
Different dampers tuned to the new spring rate
Larger diameter sway bars
As somebody mentioned before, these things are what you can't change for SCCA events, and that stuff would likely add a lot to the handling of the car for those of us who are more hardcore. Also, according to a few reviews I've read, the car actually handles BETTER with smaller rims than the 20's, due to the lower unsprung weight. An inexpensive way to sharpen up the steering may be to offer the track pack with lightweight forged 18's with high speed rated tires. That could shave 50 pounds off the unsprung weight, which has a lot to do with steering and road feel. Luckily, the car looks just as great with the larger meats and smaller wheels...
Also....the pack should be available on BOTH the SS and the V6.
