I took a couple pics of the spare tire well at the Chicago Auto Show. The first pic shows the inflator kit mounted in a black styrofoam holder. The second pic shows the the battery underneath when you lift up the inflator kit. Nice avatar by the way...

 

Battery in the trunk huh? Totally missed that. G8's in the trunk also. Certainly not a deal breaker but IMO, inconvenient when some dumbass asks me for a jump after a football game (someone ALWAYS does). Of course I'll probably err on the side of caution and bring the 02 Impala to the games anyways...

 

I'm not sure on this car, but a guy at work has a Cobalt with the battery in the trunk. He said there were terminal posts under the hood as well.

 

There are most likely posts under the hood connected to the fuse block.

 

Scott's car and Fbodfather2.0's car are both yellow. Both were at the Cleveland show parked behind the building. When I download the pictures from my camera, I'll try to post the pictures I took of both of them parked next to each other. Like most northern states, its kind of odd to see camaro's on the road in the winter. And, to see two 2010's parked nexted to each other with snow on the ground, it was something that I was really happy to see as I pulled into the parking lot yesterday morning.

 

I spotted a yellow one yesterday and today, Yesterday was ont he highway today was on Orchard Lake Rd and 14 Mile Rd in Detroit, I couldnt get any pics of either as I was driving the opposite direction both times I spotted it

In my experience, if the factory battery location is not under the hood, there will be redundant connection points for jumper cables under the hood anyway.

Having the battery in the trunk means that if you need a jump and you're pulled in front-first in a crowded lot, someone could still pull up behind and help you out without the need for 20-foot cables.

 

I like the battery weight low, centered and just behind the rear wheels as opposed to high and in the front corner of the engine compartment. Every little bit of weight transfer on this car will help.

 

Very true - I've performed jumps with my Cobalt both from the underhood terminals and the actual battery.

 

I'm generally not the guy/gal who needs the jump. It's always the "kids" at the game who have their stereos at full volume for 3 hours before they go in and then come out and do the same without ever starting their car. I'm just the nice guy who helps out. I stay and cook and have a few "pops" after every game anyways rather than sit in 2 mph traffic for a couple hours.

BTW, there are terminals under the hood...

 

sorry to be off subject, but i like the idea of that inflator kit.

 

I am wondering if it is just a regular air pump that maybe plugs into the cigarette lighter, or is it something else? If it is just a regular air pump then if someone was to get a flat tire, not just a leak, then it looks like a flat bed would be needed. I kind of wish they just went with a run-flat tire, but then again you would add more weight and lose some performance.
