Supplier MAY delay Camaro
Hate to put another fly in the ointment but...
Supplier spat may stall launch of Camaro production
By DALE JEWETT
2010 Chevrolet Camaro
After months of teasing us with pictures, concepts and finally the real thing, all that’s left for the new Chevrolet Camaro is to crank up the assembly line so the car can hit the road next year.
But there may be a little glitch.
GM is suing Cadence Innovation, a bankrupt interior parts supplier that is liquidating, to get back parts and equipment it needs for the Camaro.
In standard industry practice, GM handed over the parts and machines to Cadence to make the Camaro parts.
But even though Cadence is going out of business, it hasn’t been in a hurry to return the equipment, as some company managers have tried to engineer a buyout to keep the firm going.
GM says that if it doesn’t get the production equipment back by Jan. 12, the start of Camaro production will be delayed.
And that won't be good news to the Camaro faithful--especially those who have a car on order.

It sounds as if company managers are pitted against whoever they appointed to be the "big cheese named Joe" (fictional name in this mess). Joe is blaming the company managers for the decision to reject the offers to buy the company, and the company managers are saying that "Joe" is not representing their interests/desires. And the previously interested buyers have lost interest in buying the company due to these conflicts.
I'm sure there is some negotiating going on behind closed doors to come to a reasonable solution to this mess. Its all about the Benjamin's guys, and its in all parties best interests ($$) to work something out. Its the root of the issue and will be the solution to the issue. Just give it a little bit of time before we raise the white flags.

GM has a small army of lawyers and engineers who yank and move tools all the time. I don't see this delaying the program. As soon as they get in front of a judge, they will get the court order they need. GM owns all the tooling they build their cars with.
