T-top/Targa Top Poll
Alright, let's put this up for Scott and GM to see. Post your response and vote...
If there is a $1,000 targa or t-top option, will you select it on your 5th gen? Also, if the option is not there, but the Mustang has it for 2007 as projected, would it sway your decision?
For me personally? No t-tops won't put me in a Mustang, but it might VERY well put me in a 3rd gen instead of a 5th for my next addition to my current collection of one If I am in my Z28, the top is off. My next toy will be the same way. Not having t-tops, IMO, is sales stupidity.
And don't let people tell you engineers cannot crash test a t-top car. The Vette has them...why can't the Camaro?

Re: T-top/Targa Top Poll
Please don't destroy the look of the Camaro concept by adding a b-pillar just to get in a t-top. If the Camaro concept was inspired by the 69 Camaro, then it should not have a t-top or targa top as the 1st gen Camaros never did. Leave those for GM's true sports car, the Corvette.
I am already planning on buying a new Camaro, however I am waiting for the uber Camaro even if it means an additional 12-18 months. T-tops looked great on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th gen Camaros, but they don't work today, and they don't work on this Camaro. Adding a b-pillar to satisfy the t-top crowd (of which I am a member) would kill the sexy look of the Camaro concept in my mind.
Please don't kill my dream.
P.S. If they have to add a b-pillar to make the t-top work, I'm going to have to shoot someone.

Re: T-top/Targa Top Poll
Ok, I don't pretend to be as knowledgable as everybody else here when it comes to cars. Be it mechanics or whatever.
But why exactly will a B-Pillar ruin the look of the new Camaro?
Anybody taken the pic into Photoshop to add it to get an idea of how it would look? Where exactly would it be placed that makes it SO ruin the look of the car as some of you have stated?
I, of course, voted in favor of a TTop option. I loved the ones in my 2002 Camaro and miss having them. Mine never leaked. Granted the car wasn't that old, but when a car gets older things start to go wrong, so you can't really complain if a car is 10 years old or more and the TTops leak imo. I don't keep a car that long myself. 3 or 4 years and I'm ready for something new. Even if it is a new model of the same car.

Re: T-top/Targa Top Poll
If T-tops or a Targa top arent offered, then there is a very good possibility i wouldnt buy it. I'd probaly settle for a C5, or used C6, or just buy a used 4th gen. T-tops are one of the major reasons i have my car today.

And it may alter the outcome. It's designed to see how many would prefer TTops as an option, it's not a TTop vs Convertible thing.
Let's say Convertible was there, let's say 50 people voted they'd like a convertible. NOW let's say, only 25 of those can actually afford the convertible. The other 25 would realisticlly end up with TTops or hardtop. So those 25 SHOULD have voted with their pocketbook, not their wishes...
So leaving the Convertible off this poll was the right decision imo.
Convertibles alter the look of a car WAY too much for me though. I loved the 4th Gen Camaro's, but thought they looked horrible as convertibles...

jg,
I know you keep saying it, but I don't see where a well-executed B pillar kills the ENTIRE car. That to me seems a little severe, don't you think? No offense...it just seems to me that ignoring an option 80% of buyers wanted just 4 years ago for the sake of having no B pillar is sheer lunacy...
And FWIW, yes the car is like a '69, but does that means the options list has to resemble a '69? In your own thread, you say "times have changed." They sure have...the last time we could buy a Camaro, 80% of us made our choice...times really did change, didn't they?

Re: T-top/Targa Top Poll
Time to remake the poll... need more options.
Convertible needs to be on it, maybe a choie for "would buy different gen", etc.
If I was going to buy a Camaro, I don't know which I would go for. It took 8 dealerships before I found a hardtop Firebird with any options when I got the current car. I like the roof line of the hardtop but every once in a while I think t-tops would have been nice to have.

Re: T-top/Targa Top Poll
Ignore the convertible, and stop poll hating, gentlemen We're gonna get the vert...we may not get t-tops, hence the issue. If you're gonna buy a vert anyway, I figured this poll isn't really geared toward you anyway!

I guess what I "hated" was the implication that if I wouldn't buy a fifth-gen I "may" buy a Mustang.
I mean no offence to any Mustang lovers who might be here (and I can appreciate what the Mustang is and has been) but I would never consider buying a Mustang even if there is never another GM pony car ever made!
I did choose the "I'd spend the money option" but didn't choose the "I wouldn't buy a fifth-gen" option even though I definetly would not buy a fifth gen if there is no T-Top and/or Targa option.

Re: T-top/Targa Top Poll
Gotta go without the t-top or targa option. I agree with whoever said that the B-pillar wouldn't look right on that car. Just can't picture the car looking right with either of those two options.
