T-Tops out of place?

Re: T-Tops out of place?
T-Tops have become extinct because of the new side impact crash standards. It is very hard to package an airbag without having a roof there. I don't think t-tops can qualify for the same breaks that convertibles do, either.

a camaro without glass t-tops? toture i tell you. torture. nothin like flying on an empty country road during the summer with them there t's off and looking straight up at the moon and stars. as much as i love this car, if they don't put t-tops on it, i prolly won't ever own one.

Re: T-Tops out of place?
I gota say that no ttops would be a big blow to me. Ive waited 8 years to get a Ttop car, Ive gone through 5 fbodys and havent been able to get one with ttops, Ive thought of cutting them into one of my cars more than once

Re: T-Tops out of place?
I'm with the two above. Both of my Camaros have been T-Tops, and I can't imagine not having them. Personally, I take mine off ALL the time. Pretty much always off during the summer. All my friends are the same, too. My buddy had a real pretty '91 that was blue with white stripes. Really nice car, but no T-Tops. This summer, he sold it and got a '97 WS6 with T-Tops. Guess what he said his favorite part of the new car was? Not the better performance of the LT1. Not the WS6 suspension. The T-Tops. I think there are enough people out there who feel the same that GM would be making a big mistake to not offer T-Tops.

Re: T-Tops out of place?
though I am a fan of the t-tops because I take them off any chance I get! doesn't look like it could work well on this car. One thing I do see that could work is a hard top convertable!

It looks as if there'd be hardly any space to store it.

Re: T-Tops out of place?
I'm not sure what I'd do with a Camaro w/o t-tops. Side impact standards have increased, but just stick the airbag in the side of the t-top, have a double-pin latching system that activates the airbag when the top is in place.
The REAL question is...did they fix the cat in the floorpan problem?

Re: T-Tops out of place?
So, does that mean they put a hump on the driver's side as well?
T-tops or not, I want the car to be a tank. Big seats w/ high head rests, side airbags, and excellent crash ratings. If they can achieve that with t-tops, do it! If not, then we need to consider another "open air hardtop" type configuration. For the last 30 years or so it's turned into a Camaro trademark.
