I msg'd the original poster of that thread and he showed me a captured screenshot of that notice. It's real folks. Just hope it's nto too big of increase.

 

I don't remember where it was, but it's been mentioned on here before that one of the Camaro pages said "Introductory Pricing" which would seem to indicate that they didn't intend to hold that line too long.

 

Yup that's the reward for those of us who put in our orders early!!

 

Well unless u're one of us who's lived this car for 2+ years, checks their favorite site daily for new pics or additional info, and has played with camaro builder multiple times with different configurations then you really dont know much about the car except what you might have seen in a car show or came accross a review. Strategically it makes sense to raise it now rather than later while the mass market hasn't seen the starting price, MSRP, or Employee price like we have. Like I said in my original post, I expected it to go up, but considering the market, unemployment rates, and GM's condition...I figured they would have kept it low to introduce it and raised it later in the year (Oct or Sept) as "next year's" models were released. Oh well, let the bargaining begin!!

 

I knew that there was to be an increase but by how much is starting to worry me. If it's ~$1000 or so then I won't be too disappointed. Now if they price it inline with the Challenger the S is going to hit the fan. Let's hope the latter doesn't happen. Like alot of people, I am waiting to test drive one before I go dropping $35k. If the price hits $40+ then I'll be forced to go elsewhere. I would have to believe that GM would alienate alot people if they did that.

 

They raised the price of the G8 and now there is a 3k rebate on it, even the GXP last time I looked.

Be patient and dont worry about having the first car on the block and they will discount the Camaro as well. I dont know anyone the can't at least get supplier price, heck you just need to be a member of a credit union to get supplier.

 

Really?!? How does that work? The fiance's car as well as my bike are financed thru a CU. If that's the case then I may make the push to get one sooner than I thought. Pending prices are still reasonable. Guess we'll find out for sure tomorrow.

 

If the current info on GM pricing is correct, then those who didn't pre-order are going to have to deal with a whopping $45 extra on the price of your Camaro.

Comparing the pricing list from February 18 and the update from April 1, the MSRP and GMS prices have not changed. The only difference I see (including the options pricing) is the delivery/destination charge went up from $750.00 to $795.


As far as the credit union thing. The credit union I work through has the information available online for the supplier discount. You should be able to contact the loan person at your CU and get the info. Chrysler is offering money off and GM is offering supplier pricing. I don't remember how long the promotion is going on though.

 

From what I have read so far, the new price increases won't be released until tomorrow (Thur. 4/9.) I just hope that GM doesn't have the mentality they once had. Especially since many, many magazine articles and reviews have quoted as well as 14k + cars have been sold at this "intorductory" price. To affix a Challenger-esque price to the car at this point would be really disturbing.

Pending the outcome of tomorrow, I will go and talk with my CU to see what they've got going. Then its off to the dealers to see if any of them will honor it (fingers crossed.)

 

If it's any comfort, my info is coming from the official GM pricing web site and it was from the "Effective April 1" price list versus the "Effective February 18" price list for the Camaro. In the time I've had access to the pricing web site, I've never seen them add a new pricing update within a couple of weeks of a previous update, so I doubt there will be an "Effective April 9" pricing update. It could happen, but the pricing change announced was most likely just the delivery/destination charge change for the Camaro that became effective April 1.
