Guess I should take the dead body parts out of my trunk... Typical Clarkson. The time is pretty respectable though.

The time is pretty respectable, however I think the true comparison won't be able to happen until the Z28 comes out, which hopefully we get more details on after the august meeting.

What a dumb comparison test. The Camaro SS did great and looked awesome flying around the test track. People will love this car when they have the chance to buy one in Britain. When did a 4 door luxury sedan become a muscle car? America defined that segment and it ain't a 4 door with a big engine.
Does anyone think Clarkson's jokes are getting a bit stale?

CTS-V seems like a better competitor against the Merc...

No surprise on the "review"...

Well, you have to think that the "muscle car" class is a bit....well...slim with choices.
The 5.0 GT probably wasn't released yet when this was filmed, and they already did an episode with a challenger(that also had the ZR1 and the CTS-V which they also called muscle cars), plus i'm almost certain the challenger isn't sold in the UK.
What else to compare it against? Something else with a 6.2L V8 that is brand new to them.

Only the British would think it makes sense to compare a $35,000 car to a $70,000 one. I agree...CTS-V would have been better.

Will watch the whole episode later...

How much did they say the Camaro is in pounds? Sadly even the Corvette isn't quite as much of a performance bargain in the UK due to the higher prices.

And as far as muscle cars... they have been calling the big V8 German sedans muscle cars for a long time on Top Gear. And I think they are justified.

Stupid comparison. Predictable result. Glad I'm over here and not over there.

They barely actually did anything with the Camaro. The piece was "hey there's a Camaro but lets really talk about the AMG Merc. Which, they might as well have compared to a 2 door merc or Audi or BMW. At least compare cars with the same number of doors.

And I agree on the CTS-V. Put that against the Merc, its more in the price range, some luxury, and you know, 4 doors.

They are always biased to the European cars, it would have been a more true comparison if they took the standard Mercedes rather than one from a tuning company.

Maybe a Nickey 2010 would have been more up to par in performance.

Top Gear is mainly an entertainment show and we have to take it for that.

Interesting that the Holden LS3 UTE pickup is slightly quicker around the Top Gear track than the Camaro. I think the UTE was a stickshift.
