I wouldn't rule it out. I think people would get it if it was an option. I woudl prefer a hardtop convertable to a softtop myself if that's what i decide to look into buying.

I would. Folks are already complaining about the Camaro's estimated curb weight and you want to add a hard top convertible? Forget about the cost angle for a moment and ask yourself what value it really adds when weight and performance would seriously be compromised to pull that off.
Sounds cool? Yes. But is it worth it?

I don't know any 'average' that gives any consideration to the weight of the car at all.
A hardtop option would appeal to those who are looking for a great looking convertible, but aren't interested in the cars performance.
If they can make the G6 a hartop convertible loaded at just over $30,000 I can't see why they can't have the option on the Camaro as well. (Yes, I realize the G6 is a V6, I'm talking about the V6 model Camaro being loaded w/hardtop for just over $30,000.
Though the biggest hurdle I see to a hardtop convertible is that realy long roof the Camaro has. Could the trunk area even accomodate that huge thing?
Hardtop would be the only convertible I'd ever own personally.

I never actually thought there would be. Just pointed out that there would be some people interested if there was. Most people I know agree with me, ragtops are ugly with the top up.

You're right. Most are ugly with the top up. However even hardtop convertibles aren't as attractive as their coupe counterparts. IMHO, if you want a convertible, you sacrifice the looks of the top being up because you want all the pluses of having the top down. If looks are that important, then get a coupe. Besides convertibles aren't very practical most days of the year... outside warm weather states.

and weight is NOT going to be an issue...
