Total Camaro Production Hits 5 MILLION!

Re: Total Camaro Production Hits 5 MILLION!
Are you reading the same thread? It is missing the V8! When somebody thinks Camaro, they think V8, and rightfully so. The stripes would just have set if off nice being the 5,000,000th car. Nobody really cares about a low trim V6 with steelies.

Re: Total Camaro Production Hits 5 MILLION!
Nobody cares that someone got their Camaro, the way they want it, but would prefer if that person got a Camaro with a V8, 'cause that's what it is supposed to have'.

Re: Total Camaro Production Hits 5 MILLION!
The point just keeps going right over your head. 5,000,000 is a HUGE milestone. It would of been nice if that last car was all about what the Camaro has represented since its creation, a cheap (adjust for inflation) vehicle with an available V8 for great performance and a bargain price.

Re: Total Camaro Production Hits 5 MILLION!
If that's so - (and perhaps I'm wrong with my interpretation of your post) -- what decade are you living in?
(...it's late and perhaps my patience is wearing thin....)
Go look at the build counts for the 2010 and 2011 model years - are you seriously saying that we should just drop the V6?
If you go back to my post on this thread - we are busy trying to design, build and sell the world's best cars and trucks........the Camaro team is working on many things - one of which is a ZL1 that's gonna blow peoples' minds. We missed the 5 millionth build - and there's no real assurance that the 5 millionth Camaro is, indeed, that LS that is shown.....for what it's worth, the 2 millionth Camaro built was a 350 2bbl Camaro Sport Coupe (base model) with white walls, rally wheels, Air Conditioning - and that's about it.......
Final thoughts:
1. the V6 still gives you 312 horsepower. If I told you 5 years ago that you'd be able to buy a base Camaro with that horsepower with all of the standard equipment that comes on an LS - for a bit over $23,000 -- you would have thought I was crazy...............
2. while we refuse to take even a moment to 'rest on our laurels' -- I still invite you to go and look at the sales performance of the 5th gen.......and then I invite you to sit and talk with a group of 5th gen owners - you may be surprised at how much people love their 5th gens -and how those who have V6s love them.........
If I'm wrong in my interpretation - forgive me.....

Re: Total Camaro Production Hits 5 MILLION!
Seriously, are you trying to be retarded? The number 5,000,000 is a something that not a lot of vehicles could say they have reached. The V6 in the Camaro is quite potent in its own right, but the ICONIC engine in the Camaro has always been the V8. It makes sense that such an ICONIC production number should have the ICONIC engine option. I am not going to respond any further. You either get it or you don't.

OK - so you're saying that we should only offer V8s on a Camaro?

Re: Total Camaro Production Hits 5 MILLION!
I think what everyone on the enthusiast side of things are saying is that it would have been cool to commemorate the (approximate) 5 millionth Camaro with something special, be it a special combination of options or paint color or even just a cool photo...like this...
BUT, since it was already mentioned that the focus on continuing the Camaro juggernaut of progress allowed this to be overlooked, it up to us as Camaro enthusiasts to cover...which we did.
I don't think a V8 was 100% needed anyway, since we are now in the age of trying to squeeze out as much power as possible out of a car while still retaining high gas mileage at an affordable price in a time of economic hardship. I think the car that it is said to be fits the bill nicely, and the factory installed spoiler is pretty cool and semi-unique as it is.

Re: Total Camaro Production Hits 5 MILLION!
According to Service History it has not been registered sold as of 06/20/2011, so there's still a chance that someone can own a piece of history for CHEAP!!!

Re: Total Camaro Production Hits 5 MILLION!
Apparently that makes me an evil person.
I didn't mean to get the FBodFather to smite myself, I understand it is hard to get sarcasm, and I do apologize, but I get tired of others exuding their snobbery, and feel right to join in, and somehow that always ends horribly.

Exactly Jason. I have no problem with Camaro #5,000,000 being a black LS I just would have wanted Chevy to make a bigger deal out of it with a little ceremony from Oshawa and a press release. It's a feel good news story that would have been good free press showing the rebirth of the Camaro and GM is working.
But like Scott mentioned if they just missed it because of how busy the segment sales leader is with steady improvements and new models then thats actually more exciting.
There is always time to plan something for the 6 millionth Camaro!
