Q&A:
This is an information page that should help all the members understand the process and track their cars all the way home.
Please take the time to read it and use it as a resource as your car moves thru they system.
Question: How do I use this service to find the status of my car?
Answer: You will need the full VIN number of your car and your 6-digit order number (example- NDDT33). Then, simply click on this link and add your information. http://camarotracking.com/
That all you need to do. We add your info in every night and submit it for an update. The following day your information will be added and updated on camarotracking.com. Please make sure you use the proper capitalization . Do not use special colors or change the font or use bold print. Only enter your data once. Once you are in the database your information does not need re-entered. Your status will be updated daily (weekdays) throughout the entire process.
Question: I cant find the update?
Answer:Once again to make it simple you only need to click on this link. http://camarotracking.com/ Then just hold your control key down and press "F" to open the search box. Type your member name and like magic your info will be highlighted for you review. Or you can look at the list below for the most recent updates. Usually you will find the update sometime between 6:00 AM and 10:00AM mountain time. Remember that when you FIRST enter your information, it will not show up until the next day.
Question: What does each Event Code mean?
Answer: The codes have been simplified from what they initially were to avoid confusion. We have all learned the status codes for tracking the production of our cars. From 1100 (Order placed) to 3800 (Order produced) to 5000 (order recieved by dealer) and every thing in between. In addition to the order status codes there are a series of codes that can be found within Camaro Tracking.
The first code each car will hit after production is generally- ON HOLD. Don't let that scare you. Each car goes through an assessment process. Many have no problems and are released within 4 or 5 business days. Others can be held for an undetermined period due to a defect or flaw that does not meet the high standards established. Some cars will need to have replacement parts ordered to execute the repair. To receive those parts a car could remain bayed (ON HOLD) for 3 to 4 weeks. The factory is a "just in time" modern production facility and they do not stock replacement parts at the plant. Just as your car moved from status code 3000 at which time the parts to build your car was ordered to 3400 when your car was started, you had to wait for the components to be received at the factory to actually build it to completion. If you need a new part to correct a flaw, that part must now be ordered and you must wait for it to come in before the repair can be made. Other reasons might include a batch hold. In some cases a batch of cars must be held to determine if a specific part has a flaw or defect. Under a batch hold the scope of cars affected is determined and individual evaluation of those cars is made. No reason for the hold on your car will ever be disclosed unless it is part of an official statement or recall. No exact date of the completion of the work or repair can be made as there is no way to determine the delivery of parts. ON HOLD is not a first in first out process. Each car is individual and the original date entered and date or VIN is irrelevant to its process through QC. Your order date does not matter as your car goes thru QC. After your car clears final assessment of QC it will move to status AVAILABLE TO SHIP.
AVAILABLE TO SHIP means that it is bayed at the factory and is cleared for shipping to its next destination. That next destination might be to striping for some or to its final destination for others. It usually will sit in that status for a few days. However, it is possible for a car to sit waiting for a railcar at the factory and to wait for the railcar that will be going to the destination to fill up. The same situation is true regarding cars that will be shipped via truck. They must wait for a truck and wait for it to fill up. After your car clears AVAILABLE TO SHIP you will now move to IN TRANSIT.
IN TRANSIT is the same as Status code 4200 (shipped). You are now back on the grid in more ways than one. You will see that you now have more data available. The method of shipping is now accurate. TRUCK or RAIL is now shown as your vehicles transportation method. Previous to this point the shipping method is not accurate and serves no purpose other than to confuse you. You will also find that you might have a railcar number. This number can be used to use the automated tracking systems available from the carrier that delivers in your area. (see section on railcar tracking for more information). Finally after the car has been delivered to the nearest railroad auto distribution center it will then be delivered to the dealer usually within 5 days of being unloaded from the train. Once it has been delivered to the dealer your status will change to DELIVERED.
DELIVERED means the car is no longer in the control of the shipper and is at the dealership. It should be available for you to pick up.
Question: How do I track my car on the railroad?
Answer: First and most important. Do not ever try to or talk to live personnel at the railroad or trucking companies We are being provide with this information from GM to use on automated tracking systems. If we go beyond the parameters and press the buttons to talk to a live body, they will notify GM and all our data updates regarding shipping will end. We have just recently been warned as several members contacted a trucking company to see when delivery was going to be. Don' do it as everyone else would suffer the consequences behind you.
Automated phone tracking numbers:
CSX 1-800-235-2352
Union Pacific 1 800 877 5123
Follow the phone prompts but do not speak to live personnel.
FINAL truck tracking to your local dealer should be monitored by your dealer. THEY HAVE ACCESS to the individual trucking outfits once you've told them your car has been unloaded from a train. If you're lucky enough to be close enough where your car never gets a train ride, call YOUR DEALER when you see your status code go to IN TRANSIT with TRUCK only shown and no reference to rail or railyard anywhere in your individual status line on camarotracking.com
Here is a sample from www.camarotracking.com
Note on it the different levels shown at that point in the list- IN TRANSIT and ON HOLD. Note that most ON HOLD show RAIL after them but one shows TRUCK. That is how they will ship once released. The IN TRANSIT entries showing RAIL also show the railcar number the car is inside. The ones that show TRUCK and then RAILYARD instead of a railcar number have reached their final destination and are awaiting for (or on) a local truck to your dealer.
Enjoy.

Re: Track your Camaro Shipment
If you want to track your Canadian vehicle call GM Customer Care at:
1-800-263-3777
I believe you press option 5 after that, and that will forward you to a representative.
Just ask them if they can check your vehicle's order status. They'll want your 6 digit/letter workbench number (if you don't have it, get it from the dealer). They have to make some internal calls, so expect to go on hold for a bit. Then they'll tell you when it will be built, about when it'll be shipped etc.
I called them when I was waiting for my 2011, so I know it works. They nailed the dates.
