Turbo Camaro vs. GT500 on "Battle of the Supercars" on SPEED
http://www.speedtv.com/programs/batt...the-supercars/
Episode airs Thursday July 29 at 10:00 pm/ET on SPEED. It is labeled as the 'Texas muscle' episode. Last nights episode was good, and the Camaro is seen in the intro video before all episodes start! The only description that is given for the July 29 show is..."Paul’s turbocharged 2010 Camaro challenges Tanner’s supercharged 2010 Shelby GT-500 on a remote airstrip in Goliad County Texas." Seems worthwhile to watch

I dont think they are actually "their" cars. Tanner is just the one driving the mustang the entire episode and PT in the SS. I saw the commercial, and the camaro had something across the top of windshield. I didnt get a great look at it, but it looked like it said something Lingenfelter or Hennesey how they both have the name up there.
I will be watching it regardless.

Neither car is stock. Yes it is Tanner Foust, the guy who has won multiple drift competitions. And if I remember correctly, during the previews one of the guys was going crazy that "This car has 1,000 horsepower!!"..dont know which car because they kept switching clips quick during the audio....then again maybe im just dreaming....

Battle of the supercars: Another mustank bailout
I just saw the episode. Are you kidding me? The Mustank wins the competition? The fastlane Camaro beat the GT500 with stock brakes, handling, and blew it away in the 1/4 mile. Who gives a crap about 60-120 and the top end category. Who is going to go 200 miles an hour? It was already determined before the competition that the Mustank was set up for more top end. What a sham!

I also noticed that they were still working the bugs out of the tune on the turbo Camaro SS. Considering the Camaro had stock brakes and was barely out braked by the Mustang, I was impressed. I'm now less worried about what the rumored Z28 is capable of.

Why don't they just set up both cars even? Meaning do both with superchargers and anything they want to do aftermarket on anything else to make even. I just don't understand how you take away anything from that show or the other competitions I've seen. I feel like they keep bailing out the GT500. It can't hang with the ZR1/06 so they keep putting it against the camaro in "apples to oranges" tests. One 1/4 mile test on Motortrend put a GT500 against a stock SS! The SS beat it off the line but lost when GT500 supercharger kicked in. How can you put a 60k car against a 30k car?

Also, so you are advocating testing a stock GT500 against a tuner car??? Correct??
BTW, a 2010 GT500 is not close to what a 2011 is.

Traction is a huge issue with the 500, and while stock its true that it can't get traction, if it did come with bigger meats, we wouldn't even be debating this.
Once the Z28 comes out, maybe they'll stop comparing the GT500 to a vette.
