Question to wait or not?

Ok, so it seems that a bigger (or more powerful) engine will be available in the 2nd year of production... So here is my question.

Is that hope enough to skip the first year of production (IGNORING any other beefs you may have with 1st year) and wait for the big power, or would u get the first year with the top engine at the time.

Now here's the kicker, what if the 2nd year upgraded engine is just some new heads and/or cam? An easy swap. So if that were the case, would you kick yourself for waiting an extra year and not being able to enjoy a new camaro?

If I waited an extra year, only to find out that in 2010 i could have done a H/C on my 09 and had the same power.....I'd be kicking myself.

.....but if you did the heads and cam yourself you'd lose the 5 year warranty. Something to think about.

Personally, I'm still holding out hope that the bad-@ss will be out the first year. http://web.camaross.com/forums/showthread.php?t=539244

If not, I'll have a hard decision to make.

There will be a badass version at launch. To be followed by a badass-er version shortly thereafter.

I've waited long enough as it is. I'm sure the top V8 at launch will be MORE than enough to satisfy me.

Considering my current car has a whopping 103 hp (that's HamsterPower) I'll be plenty happy with something in the 400hp (NOW it's HorsePower lol) range.

I will NEVER deal with 1st year models again, learned that the hard way. Also I plan on utilizing a warranty or until I can't take it being stock anymore!

I believe that Scott said (or another high up guy) that they've gone to extra effort so that there wouldn't be first year glitches.... I seem to remember them saying something like: "this isn't the 70's or 80's anymore"

I'm not taking a side on whether thats true or not, but it is a bold statement for them to make.

Yeah I know what your saying, my Z is 14 years old and technology def has changed a TON since then, I just hate having a non electronic trans, speed density, smaller brakes, having to check codes with a paper clip, sending in my chip to get it tuned, and the list goes on. by the 16 year old version of myself!

Chevrolet.com...

says LS2 w/400 hp. Is this a joke? Why do so many other sites not even list the LS2 as an option, yet CHEVY says that's what it is? That's no way to compete with the competition.

http://www.chevrolet.com/performance/
...skip the intro, click the features tab, and click performance features on bottom right.

...(edit)... or are they just telling us what was in the concept car? In either case, it's ambiguous and deceiving.

its whats in the concept car. Its not deceiving at all since it says nowhere that the LS2 will be in the production version.

That's just in the concept.

I don't see any reason why the "base" production V8 wouldn't have an LS3.........at least .

I had a 1995 Cavalier (first year for that redesign) and never had a single problem. In fact, that Cavalier has been the best car I've ever owned in regards to problems. 5 years and 98,000 miles and never once did I have to have it worked on (aside from tires, brakes and oil changes). That's one reason I've never understood all the hate the Cavalier seemed to get. I know more than one person that loved their Cavalier (various years) and have few problems.

1st year models don't scare me. LOL
