They should offer a strip down V8 model. I heard it somewhere, but it went something like.... "Don't make us buy $5000 worth of options just to get the V8. Back in the 60's we didn't care if it didn't have a radio. We just wanted the power!"

It is a skinny of tire, short track width, too tall, boring exhaust sounding, overeight Camaro.
....but if I was given one, I'd accept it on the terms that I was keeping the other person from having to deal with these issues.

Yea, but some people at GM have the mindset that "well, if they want a stereo they want power windows, and if they want power windows, they want onstar, and if they want onstar, they want 8 big gulp holders, and if they want a big gulp holders, they are gonna need a giant indash ash tray, and if they want that, they are gonna want giant visors, and if they want that, they are gonna say htey can't see enough and are gonna need a bigger windshield. Economies of scale. People bitch about a $1000 "Electronics Group" but lets look at the alternative.

Our imaginary package above comes with CD player, Sat Nav, and dual zone climate. GM made one wiring harness, one interior piece to hold them all.

If you get to pick and choose they have to design, build and store SEVEN of everything. One for if you just want radio, just want nav, just want climate.

One for if you want radio and climate but not nav, one for if you want radio and nav but not cimate... etc

You would wind up with a $1000 CD player, $2000 Nav and $2000 Climate option.

The great majority of people, which includes most of the people who are bitching about being forced into options will opt for the package, the obviously better value. Of course now the package cost $5000.
