Were there any focus groups during the 5th Gen Development?

If there were, how many during the development cycle?

What was the average age of those that took part?

The three focus group meetings that are known are with the Camaro Disciples, which is a broad cross-section of ages, locations, income and education levels, previous and current vehicle ownership, etc. Here's what you can find out about them:

Here is a video showing some insight on the last one that was 2-3 weeks ago:

We did focus groups for several years - going back to the 90s -- discussing a 'future' Camaro.

Hundreds upon hundreds of people.

For instance:

V6 Female Mustang owners under 35
V6 Female Mustang owners over 35
V6 Male Mustang owners under 35
V6 Male Mustang owners over 35

Same protocol for V8

Same protocol for Firebird V6 and V8

Same protocol for Camaro V6 and V8

Same protocol for Eclipse owners

Same protocol for "Sport Coupe intenders"

Same protocol for several other 'fringe' cars........

Later on: BMW 3 series -- G35 -- etc.........including Charger as well.....

Usually, those being interviewed (usually in groups of 15 or less) had no idea of who the company was that was interviewing them. (until in some cases, the end of the session)

Garage visits - where people are interviewed both in their homes and then in their garages and then in their cars..........

Yes - Focus groups were used extensively - and that's necessary to determine what the 'hot' buttons are for those who may be considering a sport coupe or convertible.

The Disciples, on the other hand, bring the enthusiast point-of-view - plus they were much more involved than any focus group could ever hope.....

I don't know of another vehicle that had so much input from the public at large and the enthusiast community at large.......

......and yet there are those who would say we don't listen........

Not to mention the many nights spent hanging out with a certain extremely dedicated Camaro Team member at various hotel bars during the Auto Show season by all kinds of folks

I guess those could be called informal focus groups, as Scott always listens, digests that feedback, and passes it along to the right people when appropriate.

Was any more emphasis given to input/ideas from one group over another?
