I don't want my new Camaro drinking the cheap stuff!

I found this website about "Top Tier Gasoline".

http://www.toptiergas.com/retailers.html

Is this a marketing gimmick or should I use a brand on this list? I don't want to choose a brand based on advertising or politics. I want facts.

That list is a BS marketing claim. Premium is premium. The fact that I'll have to use it is enough of a pain. I'm not going to limit myself to a few stations when there is negligible difference between any of the energy companies.

I will continue to buy Sunoco gas for my Camaro. For one big reason. 0% comes from the Middle East. 100% American. That good enough for me.

If you are concerned about buying gas from the middle east. do a google search and you will be surprised by how much oil is NOT from the middle east. Most people are surprised that our biggest importer of oil is Canada. To ship oil from the middle east is very very expensive

just my .02

Will the SS run on regular? I know you are supposed to run premium in it, but wouldn't the knock sensor prevent pre-ignition on regular? I have run regular in my 97 Z for years with no issues.

I think it will just change the timing, but the will cause a drop in hp.

I'll run whatever gas stations gas is closest. As long as its not some shady place that may water down the gas, pump regular through all the pumps, or rig the meter to run up faster.

OK, my wife is a chemical eng. w/ Exxon. She knows for a fact that ALL gasolines sold in the US have the same level of detergents. The only exception is Shell prem. They add 50% more detergents than everyone else. Their reg. & mid grades have the same detergent level as the other brands.

Shell claims that their regular and mid-grade gasoline has more than twice the amount of detergents required by the EPA. Their premium gasoline has more than five times the required amount. See this link:

That would seem to confirm what your wife said. Guess I'll be using Shell premium.

I do stick with the "Top Tier" gas. I figure that if GM and BMW agree on it, that's good enough for me.
