Are you still going to buy that big V8 and roar around town?

My SS has been accumulating dust in the garage lately. Unloading $50 to drive around on a Sunday afternoon is becoming a little unrealistic anymore.

SUV's have nose-dived into an empty pool in auto sales. It's gonna be tough to believe that more than 10-20% of Camaros are going to be SS or Z28s when the 5th gen comes out.

Are you going to really consider one if gas is $5 or more? I'm leaning more towards a Volt.

Already paying $5.00 a gallon. Gas is 1.379 a litre here and the Canadian dollar is on par with the USD. Multiply that by 3.78, given that one gallon contains 3.78 litres and I'm paying 5.21 a gallon. It doesn't stop me from driving my Camaro, given that it is the only vehicle I own. If my new Camaro is the only vehicle I own, I won't have a choice but to pay with it too.

Up to $4.34 today ($over $63.00 fill) and it got me thinking. $5/gallon I can handle, but if it reaches $10 we're all in a world of hurt no matter what we drive.

I've already used the price of gas to justify spending more.
I put an LS1 in my 3rdgen. Should I drive it to work everyday the difference in money spent from old mpg vs new would break even in only 312 days.

So I will be driving my camaro MORE not less now that gas went up.

Nope, doesn`t matter to much to me. Hits 20 bucks a gallon, I may cut back driving a little...lol...I have a company car w/ free gas as long as I use it. The camaro will be for pleasure driving only. If it was a daily driver, maybe at 10 bucks a gallon I would consider the V6.

No doubt about it. Gas prices will have no say in the matter.

If its 15mpg city as I think its going to be. I can pay up to 6.00 a gallon. I will be using this as a daily driver, its a good thing my job is 10min away.

If gas reach $10 a gallon. I be looking for a horse and carriage.

If gas reaches $10 per gallon relatively soon we'll have more to worry about ecomomicly than V6 or V8 Camaros. We'll be in dire straights as we've got no plan B alternative in a viable state to back up a severe expense in current energy options.

IF that happens we'd probably need to annex Iraq as the 51st state and open up the pumps for relief. The industrialized world would probably not even say a word as many of the places with energy needs and means would attack those with the raw energy and little means.

If gas gets that high this country will be in such economic trouble that people won't be buying cars and most of the ones that do will hit up the 4 cylinder market or sport bikes.

People are too scared and politically correct today. What we need is a few good riots or demonstrations to make this moronic government, who keeps vetoing bills to drill and use more oil from the US, take action NOW against this highway robbery and stop buying oil from enemies. Some people can't afford it at these prices.

In the same boat, any car V8 will get better gas mileage than my 4.7L Ram(17MPG). Ive done the math and as soon as gas hits $6.00/gal I can financially justify getting a sport bike for my commute, and then the extra cash goes to gas for the camaro.

If gas hits $10 per gallon, just think about how cheap you could get a SS or Z28 Camaro! LOL Nobody will want to buy them, so they will be giving them away, for less than a V6! lol I'm already seeing gas prices affecting the V8 market... which is nice if you want a V8. Picked up my truck for half what the guy was asking cuz he had been trying to sell it for so long. And gas mileage to me is nothing because I work at a refinery, which means I get free gas, as much as I want! LOL JK JK Its funny tellin people that though or tellin them we shut down a unit just to increase gas prices and profits. LOL Funny how people believe that sh*t though.

boy i think some people are being overly optimistic about buying one. but hey people blow a lot of smoke. on another forum a member took a poll to see how how many people would buy a custom part. 300 said they would buy it so he went through with it and when it came time to make the orders he was luck if 50 of the 300 step up to buy a lot of people bought 2 or 3 to make it happen.

i know for me its really dependent on the car and the gas millage of the v6 and im sure a lot of consumers will feel the same way. im sure this will put a hurting on motor choices with gm as well as they canceled the big rwd sedans. im thinking the choices will be a v6 maybe a 5.3 or something simmilar to that and ls3. im fairly confident there will be no s/c engine like in the vett.

I'd still drive a V8 Camaro. Why? Because it probably gets better mileage than a Chevy 2500HD plow truck or my piece of junk 1994 Explorer.

this is why I own a bike.... I live in CT and drive though Long Island every day for work and 98octane here and there is as high as $4.89 a gal
some places are offsetting the cost of reg by boosting mid and high cost me $40 for just a half tank but on my bike it's a four gal tank and I get 160miles per tank. drive 20miles a day back and forth to work, and ride with my friends on saturdays. feel free to do the math, but I just got my bird and the cost of gas will never affect me driving my DD

manly because road trips are usually taken in the girls car who has daddy's company gas card..... hehehehe
