You have 98 octane at standard gas stations in CT?

If gas hits $5-$6 a gallon I'll be buying electricity not gas. Too bad no one has made a viable electric car yet.

i know for me its really dependent on the car and the gas millage of the v6 and im sure a lot of consumers will feel the same way. im sure this will put a hurting on motor choices with gm as well as they canceled the big rwd sedans. im thinking the choices will be a v6 maybe a 5.3 or something simmilar to that and ls3. im fairly confident there will be no s/c engine like in the vett.

I agree completely on the talk is cheap point. I try to be careful and honest about what I say. For instance I drive a Honda but after thinking it over again and again Id likely be considering a used SS LS3 in about a year when the markups are gone. I most likely wont be getting a V6 personally and definately a 4cyl is out of the question. Heres why, Ive always wanted the Camaro V8 power and after 2 base Camaros I probaly wont go V6 even as good as the reviews have been. Then again, a 350Z V6 minded Camaro might change my mind. 4cyl for me is a no go supercharged or not. A 4cyl is teetering on economy car, and there are other cars that will do that much better. At the same time I dont want to say, oh yeah finally got my dream car, its the 4cyl over there. I completely understand people considering one espcially with what something like an EVO can do. I cant personally stomach it... now. But who knows... opinons can change.

I dont think there will be more than one V8. I think there will be different and super charged versions though... We will see.

I'm not buying this car for DD'ing, so unless gas gets to $10 a gallon, it won't stop me. My '02 has not had 3K miles put on it for the last almost two years now, so a $60 tank of gas every three months isn't going to effect me much. I don't WANT to pay that much, don't misunderstand me, I'll just look toward a more fuel efficient car for the wifey.

i kind of think on the same lines. to me you buy a car for its purpose. to me a camaro or corvette is a toy. i dont drive my camaro or vett much i think i have put less miles then you on my camaro. on the other hand i dont want to spend 30k for it to sit in the drive way and i would imagine if prices are high these cars will have horrible resales because only the die hards will want them.

at $3.00 I'd drop down to the 304HP Direct Injection 3.6L V6
at $5.00 I'll drop down the the 260HP Turbo Direct Injection 2.0L

at $10.00 I'd probably buy a Chevy Beat or Honda's new sub $20K hybrid.

My daily driver is a 4 cyl econobox, I average over 33 mpg. If gas doesn not get over 5 bucks a gallon I will be ok. Over that the SS will not be coming out every weekend

The US could pump every thing we've got left and it would only affect gas prices by a small amount, sorry. It would maybe last us about 5 years, which might buy us some time to switch to electric cars.

I mean $10 gallon, almost unthinkable. The auto industry would grind to a standstill until they put hybrid or e-flex drivetrains into everything. A few low-production weekender cars might survive, but that's it.

What?
And prices are dictated by supply and demand, right? Well in the case of gas now, its dictated by speculators. There isn't a shortage at all of gas right now. Only thing that will cause a shortage of gas is the expensive crude oil with little margins, so oil companies that dont own any oil drillers (vallero for ex.) dont buy as much crude because they cant afford it. Only oil companies makin money are the ones that have all three sections, drilling, refining and retail. And each of those are treated as seperate entities, which means, drilling sells to refining and refining sells to retail, they all make profit so its not like the refineries get it damn near free or anything, but they do get it cheaper than if they weren't apart of that big oil company... hope that made a little sense. lol Its late/early. Basically you'll probably be seeing higher gas prices due to speculators and you'll probably see more shell and chevrons taking over smaller gas stations or valleros...

It was just like 4.87/gal here where I filled up and I got about 15.5 gals for $75...but I did average like 23mpg that tank . This is all bunk, I am getting out of the Navy in a few months and am applying to some local police departments where my wifey and I are, one is like 4 miles away and the other is like 7-8 miles, the last and farthest is 24 miles away. If I get a job with the single digit distance ones, I will have no worries about gas prices. If I get in with the department 4 miles away, I'm riding my bike: the most efficient mode of transportation in the world . Remember, Europe is already paying like $7.50/gal for premium and that was when I checked about 2 months ago

I think we've reached our gas peak. If not, maybe like 5 dollars a gallon is possible, but until the U.S dollar strengthens, we'll see the price of gas climb. Regardless, the V6 Camaro will be a good thing for me
