What is the Latest 'reliable' model lineup?
Two of the big car mags (Road & track & Motor Trend) have reported the lineup to be a Base V6, or possibly two V6 options, the 220bhp V6, followed by the Direct Induction 300 HP CTS Engine, as possibly LS & LT Models;
Next up would be a Z28 Model as the V8 Option, with the detuned Vette Engine, generating about 400HP;
And then within the following year, a Convertible option, and a supercharged 'LSA' SS Model generating between 450-500 BHP as the top dog;
Yet many of you are saying that instead, the SS Will be the Base V8 Option, with the Z28 coming out later on as the top dog with the Supercharged V8.
Isn't the information from those two mags usually pretty reliable, or are they speculating? Where is the info that the SS will be the top dog coming from?
In any event, whicever is the Base v8 Option, hopefully it comes in at under 30K;

I think it will be close. I'd love to see it under 30, but the Mustang GT is over 27k now and by the time Camaro gets here Mustang will probably be 28+. The Challenger R/T is $29,995. So if the Camaro is a "premium" over Mustang, I'd expect pricing closer to Challenger. I'd love a $28k V8, but I'm not betting on it.

From the information available on this website, there will be a V6 model, a base V8 model, and a supercharged V8 model.
The V6 model will have a 3.6L direct injection V6, putting out around 300 HP. This is the same V6 in the Cadillac CTS. I don't think we've heard any word about the names of the trim levels available for the V6. GM may go with "LS" or "LT" like other Chevy cars, or they may not. I hope they don't.
The base V8 model will have the 6.2-liter LS3 V8, with 400-430 HP (no one's sure yet). It will be called "SS".
The supercharged V8 model will have a supercharged 6.2-liter LS8 V8, with 500+ HP (no one's sure of the final number). It will be called "Z28", or if GM wants to dig into the Camaro's heritage, "Z/28".
Car and Driver and Motor Trend have both reported incorrect and outdated information ever since the concept was released. They were still reporting that the Camaro would have the LS2 after that engine was discontinued, and the LS3 was already out. Neither magazine is a reliable source of information when it comes to future vehicles.
