What is the Latest 'reliable' model lineup?

Regarding V6 horsepower.
Lutz indicated 260-something in an interview at one of this winter's autoshows.
Here's what we know.
SFI V6 in Lambda: 270/275hp (single/dual exhaust)
DI V6 in Lambda: I've seen numbers from 281-291
SFI V6 in CTS: 263
DI V6 in CTS: 304
SFI V6 in G8: 256
I've seen no reliable information to indicate whether you should add 11, 41, or some other number to the hp of the V6 in the G8 to get the HP of the Camaro V6. It'll be a nice little surprise when GM finally tells us

Another move toward consolidating everything on the DI V6. I'm not sure why the G8 doesn't get DI. Likely a cost cutting measure due to the expense of building them in Australia with such a weak dollar.
#33
Is GM AU currently building DI V6s? If not, perhaps its because of the cost of exporting them to AU only to have them assembled in cars that are imported back to NA.

The G8 GT (which is a bigger car with more stuff) is under 30k.
My official guess is that there will only be three engine options: DI V6 (base), LS3 (SS), and LSA (Z28). I won't be surprised if it's not the LSA, but I'm confident that it's going to be a supercharged V8. I will be surprised if I'm wrong about the base or SS engines.
I also think that there will not be an LS trim or LTZ level. Like Corvette, there will just be a couple of LTx levels.

However, I do NOT like the idea of having a Z28 and an underdog SS. GM doesn't have a single SS car out that isn't top of the line for it's make. I would rather have Z28 and RS or something else. I hope they don't throw SS out there unless it is the top model; and since so much speculation points to Z28 being the top model, I hope they end up using something else instead of SS for a 'base' V8.
That being said, if we see some sort of 300HP V6, is there much room for two V8s? As someone else posted, 4 engine choices seems like an aweful lot. I wouldn't mind of course (), but doesn't seem very likely.

For 2009 it's already up to $31,360
I agree with you pretty much 100% on all points here. I think you're dead on with the engines and I think there will likely be LT1 and LT2 trim levels for the base model, but it's not like they'll have "LT" badges on the back.

Ah, I hadn't heard that. That's for the GT?
I suspect that engine choice will be somewhat disconnected from trim level. For example, assuming three trim levels, you'll probably be able to get a V6 with all three, an SS with either of the higher two, and a Z28 only with a Z28-specific trim level similar to the top-level trim.

I'm sure we'll hear this *officially* soon though .

I think the Z28 vs. SS debate is over. Get used to the Z28 being the "top dog" .
Exactly. Whether "LS3" or "LSA" are the actual code names for the engines or not, that's pretty much what we're gonna get. A "base" V8 making just shy of the Corvette's 430 HP LS3, and a supercharged V8 making over 500 HP (but less than the ZR1's ~640 HP, because the Camaro can't be the fastest car in the stable ). Oh, and of course the ~300 HP V6.

However, I could go and order a 2009 Challenger right now. GM needs to get their s*** together in a hurry IMO. I'd rather have the Camaro but I have to overcome the 3-4 month gap between my 3 month extension and when Camaros hit the showroom floors... I could make a decision really quickly if I knew what the Camaro pricing will be. A Challenger R/T with 375 HP and a 3.72 (I believe) rear end @29,995 +995 for the 6-speed Track Pak is pretty intriguing...

So riddle me this batman... Why in God's name would GM "keep" pricing a secret. They HAVE to know by now what the final pricing will be- at least within reason. Once again, on June 10th, Dodge beat them to the punch by releasing 2009 Challenger Pricing. For someone like me with a GTO smartbuy expiring in September, it's "I HAVE TO KNOW PRICING". GMAC will allow me to extend the smartbuy 3 months no questions asked and may make an exception and allow me to extend until the Camaro release. After I'm in the initial extension I have to write a letter, etc, etc...

Have we not been told time and time again that it's going to be within ~$1000 of a similarily equipped Mustang??? ie: V6 = V6, V8 = V8 (ie: GT - SS?), uber V8 = uber V8 (ie: GT500 - Z28?)
GM KNOWS that price was a major deal killer on the previous F-bodies. I think it'll be a deal killer again, unless they MATCH the price of the Mustang (otherwise, the Mustang will remain the performance "bargain" that it always has been).

Even if it is, I don't believe it's going to be in the first year of production ... IMO, the V6 and 2 V8's have already been decided on. But who knows, right?!
