We'll see if a sedan does indeed share the drivetrains with a Camaro. The only way I can see your scenario playing out is this way. The sedan having both V6 and V8 (~350HP) available. Then the Camaro coming along with the same V8 as the base engine (no V6 at all). The problem everyone here is having is believing we're going to get all these engines on a car that needs a sedan base for it to even get consideration. That is where I think the main problem lies.
Please, name another current GM car line (trucks don't count) that has more than 3 engine choices... I'm waiting...

"For production we would obviously do like we did in the old days -- you would have a popular-priced six-cylinder version, then you step up to an eight, then you step up to the next eight, all the way up to 500 hp or whatever size V-8s we have. Any V-8 engine that General Motors manufactures today is potentially slated for this car. You always would like to keep the Corvette with a few horsepower more than a Camaro. Theoretically, anything is possible"

That is the second sticky on the front page of the Fifth Gen forum.
Also from the same article
" If we were to put this car into production, it would be priced with the Mustang"
Do you really think GM will offer Camaro with 400 HP around the same price as a 300 HP (maybe 325 by then) Mustang?
You seem to misunderstand base V8. I do not mean there won't be a V6. The V6 is a must.
Gm offers three engine choices in most of their cars but why didn't you want to count trucks? Could it be because the silverado offers SEVEN? also, see first BL quote.
