What's the intended fix for the Driver Side Seat Bolster
#16
i just know we bought our SS as a long term family keepsake, and i don't even want to change out the seat covers. when my grandkids give it to their grandkids, i still want it to be "just the way the General made it"
the center caps faded out, and the dealership wanted to replace them under warranty, and susan said Nope, it stays OEM.

actually your point is mispointed. i worked with classic corvettes for a few years, and yes, a car with original "style" tires was worth more than a car with aftermarket rims tires.
one of the anniversary corvettes (78?) had rims that were basically unobtainable. they were going for $500 each when we were selling them.
we would buy junk cars just for those rims.
having a car that is all original will be a novelty in the future, but I don't think it will ever again be like the 1950's cars that are survivors now.
there are too many people who are socking aways garages full of new cars every year. you can pretty much find any car with less than ~25k miles on Auto Trader, if you have the coin for it. a guy in Summerville SC bought a brand new GNX when they were new, and put it in the garage, up on blocks.
GOOGLE "corvette survivor" if you are bored, here's a good link
rant about "survivor"
it's a moot point if Scott says they have done their homework, and don't have an answer that is deliverable at the price point the Camaro will have to meet.
i would rather have a 2010 camaro, than have Scott over budget it, trying to fix every little thing, and lose it.

But even here you just proved my point. As long as they're original "style" then it doesn't matter if it's been replaced or not. There are wear-and-tear items that people expect to have been replaced. Rubber and upholstery are some of those things. Just replace them with OEM style products and it'll be fine.

I replaced the seat bolsters (both outter upper and lower) when I bought my car in '01. I've added 25k to it since then...they remain flawless. The only thing that's too bad is that the replaced bolsters are starting to darken slightly, compared to the OEM leather. Its not bad, and only noticeable to me...
White leather
If you're careful getting in and out, you won't wreck the seats...period.

And I've become very conscious of how I get in and out of my cars. I get in backwards and sideways putting my butt in first. Place one hand on the steering wheel and one on the center console. Lift and turn and then bring my feet in. I haven't noticed any wear on the seats in my 93 and they've been reupholstered for probably three years now.
